Which Processor

So yeah, i know im going to buy a processor, but i cant decide which one to go with... so ill leave some comments up to you guys.

now i know both are amazing processors, but which one would give me a better overall performance on gaming?

and could you include a nice (but semi-cheap) way of cooling the CPU
 
Well, if you want ONLY gaming performance go with the AMD x2 600+ but if you want gaming and other stuff go Phenom
 
well i would like more-so for just gaming, i mean i do use photoshop, but im not a huge editor, and i dont do videos, so probably just for gaming
 
Well, I'm assuming you must go AMD because of the motherboard your running, so I'd go with the Phenom Black Edition, and as far as cooling, the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro(I thing 64 for AMD) is pretty inexpensive, and is a major step up over stock cooling.
 
I myself would go with the Phenom because I like doing other things than just gaming, like: Photoshop, some Audio stuff here and there, making skins, watching and doing things with videos and so on. So I think it would be perfect for all the things I do on my computer.
 
ok well i have one question, how far do you think i could oc the dual core stabily... you think it could go much farther or do you think its pretty much where its at


i know the phenom can OC to 3.0 GHz without any problems, so it has to contend with that
 
As far as overclocking goes, it's not very fair for the phenom when you put it like that, if the first processor starts at 3.2, the phenom might be able to clock that high but imagine the heat output of them geez.

The bottom line seriously, if all you do is game, the 6400+ will out perform the phenom in games... doesn't matter if it's a true quad or any of that when games are involved.
 
hah well today i had a giant breakthrough... im going with the intel e8500 processor... i can get a cheaper price with what i found, so ive decided to go with that
 
good idea, I just got a e8400, can't wait to see what it can do, maybe we can compair experiences
 
mine will be better... i have a higher number :D!

jk, i think it will be a very nice processor, and added in with the ASUS Rampage board, it will be killer
