30 second warning... for five minutes!

One change i think would work would be to move the boxes on the smaller ledge in the center area up a bit, so that scouts can double jump across the small gap from the smaller ledge(the one coming from stairwell) to the larger ledge(the one coming from ceiling).

yea, there's final and then there's FINAL. I needed to stop working on it and move on to another project so I imposed a stop date. Currently i'm compiling little things i think the map can be improved on. I may or may not get it in with in a month.

As for the stalemate. Guess that can be taken many ways. I find if both teams are very aggressive it almost never ends in stalemate. If one or both teams start to be too defensive then it almost always ends in a stalemate. Which is actually what happens to a few valve maps. Sudden death was removed because too many games ended in it and they were not fun because both teams would "turtle" up. I actually wish Blackmesa server allowed sudden death because I think it's harder for engies to set up if the other team blitzkriegs. Hench low turtling.

There is a way to make your map have sudden death.

Very Easy To Do.

1. Create a tf_gamerules somewhere on your map (or us an existing one).
2. Name it Gamerules
3) Make a Logic_Auto
4) Go to the Outputs and enter these in.
My Output: OnMapSpawn
Target Entity: Gamerules
Target Input: SetStalemateOnTimelimit
Parameter: 1
Delay: 0.0
Only Once: Unchecked

I would just like to see what happens with L/C since those are the hardest to "defend" after capturing.

actually, you can,,but you have to be really really fast and good,,

i playtested that jump during initial blocking out to make sure you could,,but most scouts don't bother as they usually are combating folks in the center part

Hawk, thanx,, ill give that a try

nossr, i guess i find l and c too easy to defend if the attacker won't uber up

I'd like to see a test of sudden death on this map. It might make for an interesting way to finish it. However, the way it is now, it makes it totally possible to retake the game at the last moment...kind of a buzzer-beater finish. And, trust me, it's a huge rush of a feeling when you're pushing back and forth with those meager seconds on the clock, knowing that victory could be just a couple quick captures away. Sudden death, though...it's worth a test.

I think Blackmesa is one of my favorite maps. I don't have any additional suggestions, but I'm sure there will always be minor tweaks to be made.

Unfortunately I can't find any servers with blackmesa though. We seem to have dropped the map and I can't find it anywhere else. Does anyone know a server that regularly plays it?

only rotation servers have it atm. I tried not to hard sell it to other 24/7 servers because it felt more exclusive if it was only on eGO servers. i'll wait a month before attempting such a task.

if it turns out to be long lasting fun i would expect to see more 24/7 blackmesa servers cropping up in a few months anyway.
