Hey all, so thanks to the Federal Emergency Aid program that's been created, I've been able to get some extra money for college. I currently have an older ASUS laptop that I bought off ebay & fixed it up (it was missing a few standard pieces), but the 2 biggest issues is the fact that the laptop itself is a 17" and the trackpad randomly moves the cursor when I type (I don't even touch the pad, which makes this super annoying). The only fix that I've been able to find is just to get a usb mouse, but even then I don't want a 17" laptop because there's not many backpacks that can handle 17" laptops since that's not popular in college. As a result, I have been looking at the Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3 as that's really hot right now, but it does leave me wondering, should I wait until after the Christmas season to go after the laptop when the price goes down or should I get it now? I would love to get the Lenovo Legion 5 down the line because one Youtuber says its the best gaming laptop on the market, but unfortunately I can't justify the price (also the FEA limits students to $1000, which also hinders that situation as well).
It would be great to get a 15" laptop so that I can take it to the library at college and knockout my classwork, but just wondering if I should wait til after the holiday season dies off. Also I am open to other ideas for 15" laptops, although I gotta learn how Linux works with Microsoft Office because I refuse to use either Win 10/11. To my knowledge, the newer laptops can run on Win 7, but either certain programs won't run or the drivers won't work (I'll admit that I haven't done enough research on this yet).
