Food Decay

If leadership decided to implement this feature, how long do you think food should last?

That's not a bad idea adam but i was also thinking typical like 24h max real-time but tbh I was thinking more on the lines of 12h

It be great if food decayed so RP with food places became more of a thing instead of buying a lot of food and just having it sit there so you don't have to RP
With our next inventory system, we will be able to support durability on useable items, once Ox arrives, I would love to look into the possibility of adding a feature like this.

So I gotta be honest, I buy food at the grocery stores because food at the business is too expensive as an officer personally. I spent $900 for 5 pizzas and 5 drinks at comfy cafe, that stuff don't last $900 long lol

Even if food did decay, I'd probably still go to the grocery store, just more often.

On that note, I still try to stop by these businesses just to chat and RP, but there never seems to be anybody at them in the evenings when I'm around.

On another note, I think that having access to food at grocery stores and not JUST businesses is the downfall of these businesses.

I think in an ideal world, food could ONLY be acquired from these businesses, which would in turn keep them in business. Grocery stores are a non RP money maker really, they don't provide a benefit to RP.

I personally would support ONLY being able to get food from these restaurants and not allowing anyone to get food from a non RP interaction system.

Bro, a full food and water bar will last you four hours. Comfy Cafe prices their Honey Mustard Chicken which gives you a whopping 3/4 of your bar costs 150 dollars. That's three entire hours of food right there. What you are asking is for us to lower food prices so you can go to an NPC store where you are having ZERO interaction and are typically buying bananas.

Some of us who run a business and don't do criminal activity coughmecough ONLY have their shop as a means of income and it comes to the point of "Why even have a business if no one wants the food?"

We made these shops so your character in this world can have a little bit of tailored personality. Saha doesn't typically like the honey mustard chicken, she's a sausage roll kinda chick because of the innuendos.

You're not just paying for 3/4 a bar of food that will last you for 3 hours. You're paying for the convenience of not having to sit there eating a ton of bananas just to fill up.

The diner's prices aren't even as high as CC and I think the largest food value is 2/3 of the bar, but still, no one goes up there. I think my highest item is 100 dollars.

So sure, we can lower the food prices, but IMO the food value should be lowered to the same amount a banana gives then, yeah?

To add, if you bought 900 dollars worth of food, that's 18 hours of food. 18 hours for 900 dollars. That price is too high?

Edit: Honey Mustard Chicken: 150. That is 6 honey mustard chickens which works out to be 18 hours of food.

I'm not arguing that you are wrong lol

I'm saying given the economy style, grocery stores are cheaper. Adding Food decay would help, but as a cop, having the time to go to restaurants is less than likely when I need food on the go because the job is fast paced and I'm constantly busy.

It may be different for civilians, they may have more time. All I'm saying is for cops, the convenience of grocery stores is the reason people go there. Until we reach a point where we aren't running around like chickens with our heads cut off because of all the crime we need to respond to, I don't see a cop choosing to go to the restaurant over a grocery store.

But as my second post stated, I also support removing grocery store food altogether so we don't have a choice ^^

TO BE FAIR though. I used to go to Burger shot as a cop all the time, but it seems like as of lately, all of the businesses are closed whenever I'm around, so I don't really even have an option to go to them when I do have the chance.

Food decay is a good idea, but these businesses would need to step up their activity. We have six restaurants, and maybe one opens for an hour or so each day. I see people post on Twitter all the time asking if food places are open, and it seems like they are not. People have gotten used to these places being closed, so of course, they are going to go to the grocery store. It is a business. Create promotions to get people through the door. The delivery service is a fantastic idea.

I know Saha delivers. Can't do it if I don't know. :(
The only businesses I've seen when I'm around are Comfy Cafe and Burger Shot occasionally tweet. I'm usually on 3 hours a night in the evenings on week days, I rarely see any businesses open. So like Typical said, even if we had food decay, we still need these businesses to open and promote themselves when they are. Blast us away with ads, open even if not a lot of people are around.

It's kind of a crappy thing to balance because when the diner first opened and I was super enthusiastic about it we would put out tweets when we were open and it just sat there. It's difficult to run a business when it barely has any return. The amount of money that non crim civs get is not that much to live on.

Bingo. The cost of businesses are so high that you won't make a return on investment or it will take ages to do so.

I do find this to be the case with direct to consumer businesses like restaurants. A product and a consumer. But then you take an example like the drift academy, they make money off of licensing you to be able to spend money on their cars lol

The food business needs work in general, no it's not profitable, but it can create good roleplay. Problem is, that roleplay balancing with the income that you make in said business. It's why DJ could never afford to pay his employees and why they all operated for like 20 minute intervals throughout the day because it cost money to have them on the clock.

I do think businesses need a financial overhaul in how they operate when it comes to food.

I know I am banned here..... and my suggestions probably does not have that big of a say around the server anymore. But from when I did play, I recall having 2-3 rows of different foods I bought over time. So when I was hungry, I would just go to my pockets and eat one of the many choices of foods that I had on me. Instead of going to one of the restaurants and buying some more food. Also, I would buy some food in bulk like many others and have it in a fridge in a house, where if I really did need it, I was always able to go to my house and get some food as well (restock the food).

I noticed that when the shops did open, I went there more to interact but not really to get food, as I was a walking fridge with every drink and food under the sun on me. If we made it where food would decay it would stop the whole walking fridge thing, but also some foods may also give effects depending on where you get it from. If the stress bar ever gets properly worked in, lets say a green tea, or something along the sorts from comfy café would lower stress. Or, buying a heart stopper #AdForBurgershot would give you a boost in money or something along the sorts. So if I were to go fishing, and sell a fish for $30 eating a heart stopper before selling would make the fish sell for either $40 or $50.

This would just add more reasons to go a player ran shop, instead of the gas stations. Also make the food run out pretty quick. I wouldn't say 24 hours as a person can still stock up for the day, and not have to worry about going back to a restaurant. Instead a more suitable time would be something like maybe 2-5 hours. That way, a player will buy what he needs when he needs it and will buy more frequently from restaurants. So for example, I am hungry and thirsty, now I will go to the Pops Dinner and buy one meal, this way I get what I need, and come back when I need it again.

Also, a tip maybe for the restaurants right now, I don't think we have this or if this has been added by you guys. But make meals, like how burger shot has a Heartstopper meal. So lets say you can buy a Comfy Meal, which includes 1 drink, 1 entrée, 1 side, these meals would be slightly discounted. Nothing crazy maybe $50 dollars or less then what you would normally buy it for if you were to purchase all things separately.

The only issue is that if we have people saying that 900 dollars is expensive for 16 hours of food and they won't come to our shops, we get bored just sitting there by ourselves. I've tried to be open at Pop's a lot of times and people were excited at first... Then there were boycotts for some reason? Not sure why because you're only hurting my employees and not bringing any RP for us. It just seemed futile to stay open every day for long amounts of time. So I've stopped pushing as hard. That's what she said.

Pop's has meals too. Sides menu. Basically a combination of anything in there will give you a full bar..
