An important discussion

I had a chance to review some of the other replies in this thread as well.

I do NOT like that police cannot be corrupt, however, for the moment, until evidence and logs work properly, I UNDERSTAND why it is in place. But I hope for that to change in the future.

Secondly, I do not like the rules that protect cops. We have cars that can lock, you shouldn't be carrying your carbine everywhere, it should be in your car. I support cops being beat down, ripped of their belongings and left to die....BECAUSE it creates for a great story arch for that cop, it gives them a reason to lock that door, a reason to approach more cautiously next time, a reason to believe in the law THAT MUCH MORE....and possibly a reason to not believe in it.

The ability to do things like robbing cops is beneficial because it creates a situation where it becomes necessary to hold officers accountable for their decisions, to strike them for their negligence and to get them to take the job seriously. It gives the supervisor structure a reason to supervise, a job to do, training to reinforce. It all adds up and creates for more roleplay.

As for carbines breaking the economy. Charge cops full price for them. Make them fill out a funding request form with the department to receive funding to purchase one. Now it costs real money because the department has a budget to maintain and can not afford 20k for a carbine rifle constantly going missing. Eventually that officer will be demoted or even barred from carrying a carbine.

actually based. thanks for putting everything I wanted to say but couldn't word because small brain into such a compact post.

You must facilitate other peoples roleplay (unrealistic?)
This was the main thing I focused on when I was reading your post. This is just my opinion, but our world we live in (gamewise) isn't real. We are all limited by the constraints of what we can do in the city and sometimes that means it just can't be realistic. Us going into a shop and robbing it isn't real. We wouldn't know how to actually do any of this irl so it's very difficult to gauge what you would actually have to do realistically. I feel like that's a huge reason and possibly one of the main driving factors in having a criminal character. You get to do something that you normally wouldn't do in a safe area where you can't actually get harmed, but like I said, none of us actually know what we're doing.

I really like seeing bot the serious and less serious folks in the city. All of the different perspectives of how the stories are viewed is really interesting in my day to day. Just as long as no one swings into the way too realistic or way too unrealistic zones I think it's fine. You find your groups and you jive with them.

What is holding all of this together is facilitating other peoples' RP. This shouldn't be a conscious effort to do IC, but it should be a meta thought in your head to make sure that you're having fun but also giving the opposing party fun, as it is just a game. You want people to be here to play it with you and if you (not YOU, but anyone) want people to continue to move into the city and join in on this fantastic story of our city, you have to be mindful of how you're being perceived by the other party. It doesn't necessarily mean you have to hand over a win, but make it interesting for them.

Those are just my thoughts, I'm gonna hit that post button before I delete this like an overthought Reddit post haha.

My whole take away with this whole thread was this;

I like playing the server as if it was real life. Meaning, death is random and unexpected (I roll death saving throws when I am double downed - D&D mechanic) My weapon is in my vehicle, so I have to go to the trunk or the side before equipping it. My character can potentially have random negative effects due to scenes they are involved in (I Have a whole random negative effect chart that I roll a dice for during death) my character has forever scars due to mistakes or failures on my or other peoples part.

Be all end all is this, the only roleplay you are responsible for is your own, if you wanna be a realistic rper, great, unrealistic, great. as long as when you meet someone opposite to you you facilitate their roleplay and also are respectful to not railroad (force) someone down your specific roleplay, and are following the rules. Then you are completely fine.

in regards to this ill go point by point. if someone wants to be a corrupt cop they should build a really good story to do so, its a very powerful point and id love to have a good visual reason on why they did what they did, people should be allowed to be corrupt AS LONG AS its hard to do. Risk = Reward.

In regards to you "supporting cops being beat down" unfortunately thats more railroady than anything, I personally wouldn't enjoy the server if that was the case all the time, I personally wouldn't enjoy the server if police could get robbed (because I also disagree with player v player robberies regardless) forcing police to RP realistically by telling them the carbine has to be in the vehicle is something I don't support either because some people don't wanna think that far ahead.

I get it in regards to PVP Robberies though, their needs to be a risk / consequence due to your action but Crim V cop is already bad enough, if every time you get in a gun fight your weapons get taken, its annoying, its demotivating, its toxic. in most cases after a Crim v Crim firefight, police will be there to collect everyone and take the weapons anyway. theres more consequences for criminals for a reason Risk v reward. and econ balance.

in regards to police being robbed once again I disagree, because it forces all RP styles into a punishment for misplay or even a character decision (if someone decides to shoot to miss, then gets robbed of all their shit. It could be a decision that someone makes) while it makes sense from a realism point, this isn't a realism or unrealistic server, its every RP style period. It's what ever you wanna do in most cases.

and in regards to a story arc, do you know what makes a good story arc? Good character traits, development and failure. not punishment for failure, your arc is overcoming the failure. facing the failure.

If the PD increased rifle prices it would harm the economy more, as targeting polices rifles is the best way to; delete all their money, delete the fair play ground, make criminals even more money by selling these expensive ass rifles, and pd losing 100% of its will to live and play the server. Way to many negatives to support adding it or supporting it just for more consequences.

Be all end all I want to RP the way I want to RP, I don't want to be forced to do one or the other because I have been previously, and its not fun.
