Battlefield Division 2042. Is it as bad as it's portrayed, or is it just a unwarranted hate waggon? (from a tf2 player)

I have been watching some vids of people covering 2042 saying how busted the game is and how broken it is. However, I would like to hear from people who actually play 2042. I am not a BF player, I don't know what is or isn't broken in BF so ELI5 if possible. I would go to the subreddit (shudders) but I realized I have direct access to actual players (here) and thought that I would check in here first. Also, if possible, explain what about the game is good/works well compared to the bad/non-working features.

I've seen 4 or 5 squads in the ego battlefield discord so people are playing it and enjoying it. I haven't played it so I don't have an opinion but I think it's like any version of a franchise, you either love it or you hate it. I prefer BattleField V but I played Battlefield 1 and I think BF1 is a great game over all, especially the maps

I like 2042, big maps, vehicles are fun, guns have great infantry play. BF IV is still the best and one of my favorites.

I haven’t sunk the most most time into it but I loved it, the operator esk system get nice and most guns get good, overall I liked it tho

It's a mixed bag: Large maps and plenty of bodies to shoot at, but SEVERE lack of cover in areas and almost non-existant alternate transport (i.e. if you missed the vehicles spawned on the uncap at the start, you will be hoofing it to the next area). Some guns fun, others feel really weird (the 1st LMG feels like it kicks TOO much for how much damage it actually does per shot, vs the 2nd LMG which nearly forgoes any kick).

Also, patch to come in March (if it works out that way...) will address among other things, a blinking / flashing screen issue that is a major concern for anyone with epilepsy, and at the moment if none of the tips EA / DICE suggests work, you have to wait until that patch comes through and hope it solves it. I un-installed and re-installed to see if it would fix it (the other steps didn't), and I still have the flashing game screen. I have epilepsy, but am not primarily triggered by flashing lights / colors, but I uninstalled the game again just to be safe.

I remember the same worries for every battlefield since BF4. Not that thy didn't lunch in some sort of broken state but the BF community has lambasted all of them and when the next one comes out thy tend to praise the previous one.

I find the 2042 fun to play. But it is in need of balancing. Mainly vehicles need to be balanced better among other things. and some infantry focused maps would be a great help IMO.
