This goes off a suggestion stern initially suggested but kind of side tracked on it so I am making my own suggestion. Stern’s post is about being able to client-side record your own demos. I don’t remember as to why this is not added already because it seems like a feature that would’ve been on eGO from the start and I know other servers have e same issue. I’m just going to copy and paste what I said on stern’s post and add a little more.

It can be very very useful to a server to have a bot GOTV. To be able to record demos and get the full picture of what any given situation may look like whether it is a ban contest, ban report, or just maybe to try to find how a bug was caused in game, or even for your case to be able to make some pretty cool stuff with it. A lot of players don't use a shadowplay or if they do they don't give a well enough video of what happened in-game and they really only see their perspective, and a GOTV bot able to get that full picture of what went down. It was brought up in the CS meeting today to have something like this implemented but was kind of turned down. Especially from an admin perspective it’s a pretty key advantage to be able to go back and fully see what happened if they was some sort of issue on the server. For new admins to be able to go back and see where they went wrong is decent for training. The bot does have to take up a user slot which needs to be kept in mind. Otherwise it is not to hard to set up. Thanks for reading.

This system mostly has pros, however, the amount of technical work and data storage that would be needed is definitely a cost (and con) of this idea.

I don't really like the idea of admins having to disconnect just to watch a replay. To be frank I think this is a bit excessive in terms of "surveillance" (big brother is watching). Admining on our servers at the moment is fairly minimal and "easy". Adding this would definitely increase the expectations that people would have on admins.

Another thing to consider are player reports. Reports rarely include demos, and adding this system would definitely increase the amount of demos being used as evidence. While demos definitely tell a bigger picture and are generally better as evidence, it similarly increases the amount of work needed to evaluate and access.

This idea 100% has its merits and would most likely be a beneficial addition to the server. A personal feeling of mine is against this idea, the idea of being constantly recorded 24/7 and having your chat, voice, and gameplay recorded just seems very dystopian.

bumping once more. really beneficial for media

I'm not a fan of this suggestion for many of the reasons MSWS has already stated. This would have a large technical cost with demo storage, and also conflict with our current admining policy as it would require admins to leave the game each time to review evidence (and players would expect this to happen), this simply isn't sustainable for the admins as they'd get next to no playtime. Demos severely increase the time and frustration required to handle any particular situation, in both reports in game and on the forums (not to mention the inherent security risks of downloading a file [demo] from a forums report -- something which is annoying and requires even more time to safely do). There are also privacy concerns to worry about, but with GameME and clips, that isn't as much of an argument.

Overall, I'm very much against this suggestion and believe it's implementation would cause much more harm than good, even if it appears to be the opposite at face value. -1

Marking as not planned. Too many resources, too much admining, not enough fun. :) Thanks for the suggestion though!
