Ati Hd 4870!!!!!!

Newegg will be back in stock the 30Th, I'm taking my "piggy bank" to the bank today, and when they are back in stock... I'm getting.. 2 of them. yes... yes... I will.... >.>
 
I wish i had the money to afford one but unfortunately i dont so i just bought the 4850 which is still a great card. Let me know how well your rig runs with those cards in it kodiak.

they are going to be super nice with the GDDR5... *drools*
 
well looks like according to Anandtech the only way to beat a 4870 is with 2 cards or a card that costs 2x the price... I can handle that
 
Indeed. I paid $500USD for the gt's, the 4870 is $300. Like I said, the price performance is very, very good.
 
i personally think im going to wait until the 4870x2 come out and see where price/performance is... all i know is im either getting 2 cards, or one 4870x2
 
Well one thing to think about when you have the option of 2x cards or 1x x2 card... bandwidth... each card would have it's own PCI Express lane to throw graphics down... well 2x 4850's are showing just them together are pushing the limits of the standard PCIE 16x 1.0 slots... I can't imagine what a 4870 x2 would do to a single slot.... geez

like I said I ordered 1 4870 (stupid limits on supplies) and it has shipped :-D I get it wednesday.
 
I CANT wait for the 4870x2s!!!! They are gonna be pretty wicked! I plan on buying 2 of those whenever I get around to building my newer machine.

I've got the 4870X2 on my upgrade "roadmap" too :D

This week- Asus Rampage X48

October- Two 4870X2's (Unless something better comes out from the green team but I doubt it)

December- 30' 2560 X 1600 monitor.

And that's me done for at least 5 years, lol.
 
umm bosco you know if you go to the green team you can only have 1 card?? cuz your motherboard only supports crossfireX.

I was reading today that the 4870X2 has the internal codename "Spartan" at ATI HQ. Which lead a fellow user at an overclocking site I regularly visit to post the following photoshop:

OMG the HD4870 X2 will be so hot ! It will beat up the GTX 280
