Why did eGO and Prestige merge?

Just curious, why did Prestige Gaming merge into eGO? Was there a purchase, or was there a stability issue in the group(s) or what? I see really talented people formally of Prestige who are brilliantly active in eGO so I'm wondering with that type of personnel why their clan disappeared into another. I should also say their commitment to eGO is such that I'm often surprised that they came from another clan.

Although I was never in PG, I have heard around why they merged. Just a quick answer im sure someone can answer it more briefly then I can.

As I heard, Abdul (PG Owner) no longer had time so he kindly asked eGO if they would just take over and host the servers PG had and ended up that PG merged with eGO!
 
I remember the night pG was coming into existence. It was quite an interesting time lol. I do remember Abdul mentioning, at some point, that he no longer had the time to dedicate and make Prestige what he wanted it to, which ultimately resulted in the merge. I think it was the best thing to happen for both communities honestly.

I wasn't actively around when the merger happened, but I remember seeing many of the names from pG carry over here. In fact, many of them play important roles here still (Architect being one of them). Even non-members remember the name of the community. On Surf a few nights ago, someone brought up the fact it used to be Prestige and now is eGO.

Abdul is inactive as far as I know. Also yeah I recognize a lot of people, many oldies are still around. I knew a lot of people here since I was 14 lol. Architect gave me my Junior admin in pG hehe. As time goes on the number grows smaller.. like Arbiter, Custom, Larry all leaving. Those people I've seen around for a long time. Although I love the community for the reason there is always new people to meet.

Many pG people did come over, and some were hesitant because they didn't want change. Overall it was the correct move, and I'm happy I can still know many of my friends for as long as I have (Thanks to eGO).
 
As I read old forum posts I thought the merger conversations were really interesting. I later realized I found myself connecting with several former pG members. As I mentioned earlier I think many of the former members are talented and brilliantly active in eGO and I'm grateful for what you all have brought to this community.

This is a pretty good summary. It was quite turbulent for a few months and finding middle grounds with the differences between the two communities. It did fall into place eventually though.

The ebb and flow of the faces in online communities is always changing :)

Abdul was active for a few weeks in the beginning of the merge but kinda dropped off the face of the planet.

I was part of both sites (though nowhere near as long at pG, about a year prior to merge under a different name lol). It was nice to try and help guide pG pals into the eGO waters and see how we could all get things done and moving. eGO was going through plenty of changes at the time too, then we threw a merge into it ;)

I'm curious, how did eGO change as a result of the merger. Did they adopt or accept pG protocols, structure or activities, or did eGO continue on it's own direction?
 
PG operated fairly similarly to eGO as a whole. Rules were pretty similar (the broad ones - I think games like JB and TTT were a little different overall in how they handled things).

They had specialty teams for recruitment and media, and we took a fair bit of inspiration from it to reshape our teams at the time. Member Services was going through a gigantic transition at that time so we were super open to ideas and a lot of them were pitched from things that had worked at pG. (Though leadership after I stepped down pushed it much much further than I ever would have, which was great to see).

I would say we found a lot of middle grounds on any issues. At this point, the community as a whole I feel has reached a very different direction than what PG and eGO were when they merged. It’s definitely unique.

I'm trying to read this correctly, but which current servers came from Prestige? I've always been under the impressing that our current Jailbreak server was originally in CS:Source first and then switched to CS:GO, but the comments here seem to infer that both Jailbreak and TTT came from Prestige? Am I understanding this correctly?

It sounds like the decision maker (Abdul) at Prestige was extremely accessible.
 
eGO used to have 2 JB servers on CS:S, way back in the day. We migrated to CS:GO a long time before the merge and had our own servers, and pG had their servers, some of which were duplicates of what we had. Eventually we slimmed down to what we currently have.

I think at this point it's safe to say that all the CS:GO servers are unique and nothing like their former selves on CS:S or pre-merge. There was a LOT of back and forth on finding middle grounds and reworking game rules to better suit both the merged communities and the overall happiness of pubs.

I wouldn't call him overly accessible. If I remember right, a lot of things were kind of on hold at pG pre-merge due to life getting in the way for him. He got the ball rolling on the merge and was active in the first month or two, then went to tend to real life responsibilities from what I recall (sorta just dipped out but life be like that). We had some issues with getting things sorted out because of it, but eventually it happened.
 
old pG here, but i didnt attend the meeting.
One day i logged on the TTT server on CSGO, saw the our TTT server name changed to eGO from pG. Wondered whats going on.
 
I don't exactly remember when it was....2011?
But there were many of us from eGO CS division who loved to go play on pG's scoutzknives server :D
Many of us were familiar with Prestige by the time the merger took place, so it felt natural......from what I remember, it was a pleasant and welcome surprise.

It happened in 2018. pG was formed as a breakoff community circa 2011.

He was. Abdul held (and potentially still holds) the record for the highest number of recruits brought into eGO. I'm not exaggerating when I say I believe it was 500+. Recruiting new members used to be a massive focus, but that faded over the years as the landscape of gaming communities changed.
