im looking at Processors today and im wondering for gameing and SLI what is a better brand of Processor, AMD or INTEL and once again thanks for your input

There isn't a better processor for gaming... processor really means very little when it comes to gaming once you get past a certain point...
Video card > ram > processor
If you want to run SLI find a nice SLI board you like, don't base it on intel or AMD... just find one that has the features you want, then you build from there.
No game fully supports a Quad core, when they try to do benchmarks of games for processor reviews they turn all the graphic settings down and run the game at the lowest possible power so that the processor MIGHT actually make a difference. Nobody plays games that way unless they absolutely have to.
want SLI? search for Nvidia based motherboards... wand DDR3? find one with ddr3... want ddr2? same thing.. find a ddr2 motherboard... and whatever brand processor it happens to use... go for it, you'll end up the same either way... why?
Both intel and AMD are planning new processors soon... and so no matter what you get now, it will be out of date and old tech.
Person A has a Q6600 and SLI 8800GT's.... Person B has a 9850 BE Phenom, with SLI 8800GT's... will there be a difference... maybe.. 1 or 2 FPS... maybe 5...
I'm "upgraded" from a 4800+ AMD x2 to a Intel Xeon Quad Core... was there any difference in games... PFFT no...

Like kodiak said its all your preference, but I will warn you I am a Intel fanboy.

It's all what you like. At the moment Intel has the lead with a faster 45nm core and a better L2 cache. But AMD could come along and knock them off with something else.
Speed is important in gaming. This is where I disagree with Kodiak. If your processor stinks but you have an uber good gfx then your cpu will become a bottle neck, and visa versa.

According to your metrics there is no difference. Kodiak literally hit the nail on the end when it comes to processors and gaming. However, for some reason, I find that AMD processors tend to outscore the Intel ones on pure computational benchmarks. I think this is mostly due to the shorter pipes and the excellent use of ALU's and FLU's on the chip. However Intel for some reason or another is really good with multi-media applications (gaming excluded since most of it is handled on the gpu )...
anyways...I bought the original dual core from AMD (at about $400, now sells for >$60) and i have yet to see a loss in FPS from one card to another. Basically, I don't really bother with the hype, I look at what I want to do with my machine, and make decisions based off of that.

Each brand has it's advances...
Intel:
More Cache.. can't get enough of that stuff lol
45nm and SSE4 (SSE4 is where the media advantage is for intel)
AMD:
Integrated Memory controller... there is no FSB.. it's Hypertansport basically a direct link to the Memory, this is why intel has those crazy 1333 memory sticks and PC 1066 and 1333... because they need the bandwidth... AMD... doesn't need those.
On a side note... 1 thing to consider just throwing this out there. Intels southbridges (ICH9/ICH9R) are by far one of the best southbridge chips there is.
What does this mean for the average user??? SATA.. your HDDs main highway far far superior then the competitions. All those RAID cards that are like 300+ $$ use Intel controllers..
my 250GB Seagate HDD on my Intel ICH9 SB... outperforms a 300GB Velociraptor on the Nvidia motherboard.... so what you might say?

Right now, if you're building a new rig (instead of upgrading from an existing chipset), you should really consider Intel. I've always loved AMD, but they just can't touch Intel's performance, and you get more bang for your buck with Intel as well. On top of that, looking over the next year, AMD just doesn't have an answer for everything Intel is putting out. If you're looking for top performance now AND later, then go with Intel.
You don't need to use that word matrix...
Anyway, if you mean literally SLI, get Intel.
There is limited support for the better Nvidia SLI chipsets on the AMD platform.
Intel definitely makes better processors, but are more expensive.
AMD has better performance per dollar.
I got 10000+ 3DMarks with an $80 processor from AMD clocked up to 3.2GHZ. (Total build price $715)
The best computer ever tested was like 35000 3DMarks, and it probably cost more than $3000 with a QX[randomnumber].
If you are trying to do crossfire, definitely get AMD because then you can use the full benifits of a Phenom (HT3, split power planes, etc.)
