Can the server really be affected by players with very high pings?

The server can’t, but the gameplay on the server can.

If you have a server full of 8 people and 7 of them have a ping of 999 and 1 has a ping of 37, it’s not gonna be very fun for the individual with the reasonable ping.

There have long been servers that won't allow players with high pings believing it has some affect to I now assume the game. I've heard some say that the high pings can impact reg. High ping can make someone harder to hit as well as resulting in them hitting people who were already around a corner. Because of these issues, some servers have a ping limit.

I've never heard eGO mention anything about this. So are we not concerned that it may affect the gameplay to a noticeable degree?

i agree with imma with him because last week i was playing with high pinger he knifed from 10 feet away from me i was confused i checked his ping and was around 200 or 245 some like that and to be honest i didnt like it because my POV it looked like he is just unstoppable or to kill if he has such high ping than me if you wondering i have 1 ping

the server performance won’t be affected but the play quality for others involved will be affected. As “queen of ice” stated a perfect example that would be why some servers have a ping limit. I don’t believe eGO has one on any servers that I’m aware of and if they do it’s above 200 I’m certain.

Like some stated high ping on another individual could allow them to shoot you and kill you after you have rounded a corner or wall because in their eyes your still in place which is where the server and player hit reg would come into play. It also affects you because if your attempting to shoot someone who is hopping around in your eyes but walking fine on their side it could make it nearly impossible to shoot.

Essentially the server will be fine in terms of its performance but quality of play could be impacted for players within the server.

It also depends on how the game handles lag compensation(Interpolation).

It has, dozens of times. Search "ping limit" and you can find posts all the way back to 2007 discussing it on and off. It used to get posted in CL when that was the main outlet for suggestions a lot too.

Synopsis was generally not to do one because we had a lot of international players that would be excluded by it.
