Good morning everyone!
We are here today for more ideas to improve the game play. This one is not only TTT or only JB but instead touches all of your servers all together within our division. READ EVERYTHING BEFORE COMMENTING!!

Scenario before:
A bunch of players on jailbreak are free-killing and @Bobbb was just online doing his admin stuff but left. Players start to spam the admin chat with " W whu & Trinity are free-killing, can you do something about it? Here is a clip with him free-killing: whu actually free-killing.", "Bobbb do something" and so on. After a few minutes the players realize that there is no admins so they have to call an admin by "&Can an admin join JB, mass free-kill going on."

All of this has two issues, it takes time to realize that there are no admins online & not everyone knows about the "&". My suggestion is to remove the the admin chat when there are no admins online, so the scenario works like this:

Scenario after:

A bunch of players on jailbreak are free-killing and @Bobbb was just online doing his admin stuff but left. Players start to spam the admin chat with " W whu & Trinity are free-killing, can you do something about it? Here is a clip with him free-killing: whu actually free-killing.". A message appears in chat "There are currently no administrators online, to contact one please type & followed with your message, example: &I need an admin, mass FK.". When @Bobbb comes back online the admin chat turns on and player can type into admin chat. Bobbb sees the clips of both players mass free-killing innocent people. Bobbb hits two commands in chat !ban whu 10080 Mass FK, !ban Trinity 10080 Mass FK. End of free-killing and all players are happy again, until they realize TTT>JB.

Don't know if there is a possibility to save the logs of the players that tried to use @ when it was removed or not but that would also be awesome. PS: In contact with tech about this idea, tech have confirmed its possible.

Pros:
  • Player realizes they don't have an admin instantly.
  • Less admin chat logs without admin response.
  • Admin arrives faster.
  • Looks more professional.

Cons:
  • Not all logs of admin chat might save.
  • Might be hard & takes time to develop from tech division.

This seems like a good suggestion, no downsides to it from anything I can see immediately.

It's a good suggestion, but I feel a lot of people would just contact admins via discord. A good amount of admins are active on discord. (I could be wrong though)

That is true but for new player or players that have been with us for a decent amount of time and don't want to join or bother with discord servers I would say the idea is good with. Asking for an admin on discord is never a bad idea. I think it should be the last option kinda.

we used to have a shoutbox on the forums before the forum overhaul and making it look cooler, wich people also use to tag admins from and most admins i have seeing is active on discord and the forums....

i can say before i had a job i was ofcourse like on the forum when ever game im on and on discord to be tagged at all cost, and if i was in school and got tagged in discord i asked them if they have clips, of the incident and multiple different incidents. If yes, then i would ask them if they know how to get steam id. if not i usually guided them. after that i told them to go onto the forums and submit a player report, and back then all admins actually could see all the reports of all players, so after they said they did it, i usually checked it and told them that it was all good, and then they had to wait for them to get banned or if another admin got on and asked if they could ban them if they send their clips to the admins.

thats what i did back then, but oh well i was in MS back in that time so i was used to it

These are solid ideas and if not for Discord I'd encourage higher ups to seriously look at them. There's been a lot of person hours put into making Discord better and we should at all times avoid redundant or overlapping functions. In addition I think Tech has a lot on it's plate with more scheduled for their time. The need just isn't there with Discord available. W whu , the first time I can remember seeing your name was earlier today when you used Discord to ask for admin help. By the time I got there you had a server full of admins already there who also responded to your call for assistance.

I think that's a good sign that things are working efficiently.

The shoutbox was the slowest method to contact an admin and easiest way for it to get missed.

I wonder if there's a way to send player messages to admin chat, to a discord chat. But that's a larger project, I'm sure.

that is true, but i used shoutbox back then where it was a bit useful as i was on the forums 24/7 but true it was slow

This was a suggestion a while back, I can't remember the link atm but search for "calladmin".

I've said this for a while, but I would really like to have Discord connected to the servers. This means, that you can send a message/command in-game that will send a ping to all admins that choose to opt into this.

This would obviously need some kind of restrictions, such as not allowing the message to go through if there are active admins on the server and probably more that I cannot think of right now.

Detecting whether or not admins are active could be "stolen" from the DS plugin I would assume.
The difficult task would be to connect the Discord bot to the servers. However, I do have a lot of ideas and plans for a Discord<->Source bot in case it does happen.

sounds good as long as the bot doesn't go offline on a daily basis xd. no but sounds good actually. I thought of suggesting that too but from my perspective im giving tech already a lot to do.

As I suggested in the previous thread, it'd be much easier to use Discord webhooks instead of bothering with a bot. This would allow one-way communication from the server to discord, but you can't reply. From someone who I can't remember's research in the last thread, they're already existing plugins to do this. They would just need to be modified.
