What do the ban times look like for different offenses?

Let me preface this with I'm not really good with forums or threads, I just thought this was kind of interesting as I couldn't easily find it myself! Though even for minor offenses what would ban times look like? Or does it solely depend on the generosity of your admin? Please let me know, I guess I can edit the post as I find out?.. Seems Reputable

"Bad CT vibes"
"What's the Big Red T on the top right of my screen mean?"
"Another 20 minute round"

We have different suggested times for different offences; but it comes down to the banning admins discretion at the end. We try to take in what happened, how it went down, the users prior history, and just a general gauge of how bad the offence was that justifies the time length.

It's not something we'd make a public list of. Because then it just ends with users arguing of "Well your guide says this so why was i banned for xyz days". Just makes unnecessary conflict overall.

I can say things like mic spam would likely land you a few hours or a day, while things like racism are permanent. But everything is based on the events in front of us and guidance we've laid out for admins to base their decision on.

One of the biggest factors in punishment durations is “admin discretion”. Some admins are more strict than others and some literally don’t care.

Also +1 to Simon.

Both admins who “don’t care” and “too strict” should be brought to leaderships attention. Sometimes people are new and overzealous. Sometimes they just shouldn’t be admins anymore. A little talk from leaderships to problematic admins goes a long way in a happier server :).

Alr cool, I like "admin discretion" personally, from what I've seen so far the admins are generally cool people.

Thanks!

For minor issues, I proceed according to the player (if he is new or not) and if it is done deliberately. Like for exemple, if a regular player knows that what he’s about to do is bannable, well it’s his own fault. If a new player doesn’t know, I prefer kick him or just PM « next time it’s a ban ». Usually they don’t do it again ^^

But if I have to ban someone new or if the player made a mistake accidentally, I try to set a soft ban, even if I prefer to not ban
