DoD:S Palermo Update and Free Weekend!

Day Of Defeat: Source Palermo Update Available Now

Leveraging the recently released set of free services available in Steamworks, the Palermo Update adds 51 achievements to Day of Defeat: Source, player avatar displays in the scoreboard and win panel, and detailed player statistics that are integrated with the Steam Community features (www.steamcommunity.com).

In addition, this update adds support for popular features introduced in Valve's Team Fortress 2 (TF2), the PC title named multiplayer game of the year by Gamespy.com and PC Gamer. These include "nemesis/revenge" freeze cam and new effects driven by the particle system introduced to the Source engine for TF2.

Finally, this update also introduces a new map, Palermo, which is a remix of the most popular community map, dod_salerno, originally created by Magnar "insta" Jennsen.

I downloaded the update and cant join the servers. It says the servers are using an older protocol. Any ideas on when this will be changed.
 
Am I the only one that is dreading this update? God, the beta was horrible to me. I'm hoping this won't completely ruin DoDS
 
Yea same here says an error joining, but the update looks awesome!! ^^ Love IT!
 
I'm cool with most of the update, but I could really do without the freeze cam. I love TF2, but they didn't need to add it to DoD:S.
 
Omg!!!!

This update is terrible, it completley screws up my video, everything is messed up, anyway that I don't have to play this newer module???I can't play the older ego servers.

is it possible that the update wears out when everyone hates it and then return to the B E T T E R version of DOD
 
i wanna now when the servers will b back up cause im getting bored...i tried a lot of things 2 become unbored but THEIR NOT WORKING T_T i need my dod...its like a drug
 
love it or hate it, its just like the time when counter-strike had a huge update overhaul, everyone HATED IT even I. but sooner or later we were succumbed to it.
 
i cant say i'm too happy about the update. i downloaded it on accident because it started automatically and i thought it was just some steam update. now you have to make you steam id your name because you cant even make you name within the game. kind of ridiculous. and i also hope the servers are up soon! other than that not a bad update:)
 
Wait so you guys are saying we have to use our steam ID name in the game?? my name is {P/M} {Soldier}, so i cant use that name in servers anymore? just my steam name????

Yes you can be named {P/M} {Soldier} in-game.

That name you use under your Steam friendlist is what you also are named in-game (That's one of the updates, like Team Fortress 2).
