Concerns about Jailbreak moving to CS2
I don't know much about server development but there are a lot of new changes in CS2 that I believe will need to be fixed for JB. I'm just going to make a list of what I've noticed and what can be done to fix them so that JB can be up and running asap before our competitors get an advantage.

MAPS
Maps are pretty much the biggest issue. For starters the map file types will no longer be .bsp and vscripting is going to be completely different then what know of in CSGO. This means a lot of the complex maps that use vscripting such as jb_arcade and pretty much most thorgot maps will be need to revamped before CS2.

SOURCEMOD/METAMOD
Not much here other than that sourcemod and metamod will probably be reworked and the library will be changed as well so I don't know how much that effects the server uptime

MOVEMENT (My opinion)
This is just my opinion but movement feels different and I'm not sure how that effects the Kz portions of the maps or if that can just be edited in the server cvars.

Yeah that's pretty much it. I spoke to an admin and he said the transition will probably have JB down for months and tbh we don't even know if CS2 will have community servers.

EDIT: Looks like there will be a delay most likely for awhile

Let's try not to get too bogged down in the "what ifs". Enjoy playing right now, take things in stride as they come, and in the end I'm sure we will have lots of fun.

Considering it was all announced literally days ago, I don't think anyone can even remotely plan much yet with what little info is available. Speculating and telling people it'll be "down for months" with no real clues yet of what will happen is a real dampener.

"Community servers" will be a thing whether valve supports it or not. It's currently a part of the Source 2 engine and it doesn't make sense to spend the time to properly remove it. Nonetheless valve has indicated in their communications that they will have first-party support for community servers, and they are waiting to announce features related to that.

We don't know this for sure, but we are keeping a close eye on things so that we will be poised to adapt quickly if the situation changes. At this point it's not productive to think much about it because we truly don't know and couldn't guess. Let's just wait and see how it turns out :)

I don't think it's a good idea to make this a server vs server scenario. The entire community is in the same hole, and we're all going to be working together to get back on our feet.

This is unfortunately where most of our time will be spent. A lot of our plugins rely on things specific to Source 1 that either no longer exist of have changed dramatically in S2, and transitioning everything over to it's Source 2 equivalent will take time. As I said though, we're keeping a close eye out so that these changes don't blindside us (or at least don't blindside us as hard) when the time comes to make the switch.
