Hey guys I just made my very first sig on gimp, what do you think of it?

that's pretty good, but you might wanna change the color of the font .. to make it more visible.

That looks VERY good man, Gimp is an awesome, flexible program that sometimes isint the easiest thing to use. But yes you probably should change the font text though.
