Not really a hidden gem, but Ghost of Tsushima is so amazing, I'm almost finished 100% and sad its almost over. Luckily a 2nd Ghost game will come out some time soon^tm .

If you're a fan of roguelikes I can't recommend FTL: Faster Than Light enough. It's just an amazingly made indie game and for $10 its quite literally a steal.

If you can't handle difficult games though, it's not for you.

I like my games usually with story rich depending on the type of game anyway here is what I loved so far and would recommend any of those:

JRPG: Persona 5 Royal, Persona 3 Reload, Metaphor:ReFantazio, Sea of Stars
Platformer: Cuphead, Noita, Prince of Persia series, Nine Sols, Hollow Knight
Stealth Action: Metal Gear Solid 2, 3, 4 and 5, Dishonored series,
Difficult: Sekiro , Darksouls 3, Lies of P (the guy is so hot),
Shooter: Bioshock Series, Borderlands series, DOOM 3 and later, Resident Evil 7 and recent remakes, Fallout Series, F.E.A.R Series,
Hack and Slash: Hades, Cult of the Lamb,
Mech: Armored Core 6
Others: Dredge, Inscryption, Undertale, Firewatch
