During the RR event we are told to get doms on others and to post them, but, it SEEMS to some people that the prizes go to players who are not apart of the tf2 div. I first hand believed that the amount of doms gotten influenced if/what prize you got, whether it was the unusual offered or the steam card. I will say it is a little aggravating to see the higher tier prizes go to someone from MC or CSGO because they probably not use it ever. I know some people who have lamented that they got several doms and get the lowest level item and one person from outside tf2 get an unu. Because in my opinion, if someone has like 2k+ hrs in MC or CSGO, why would they play tf2 where they have like 2-20 hrs just to use one item? They might just sell it right away because they already have a 'base' game.

So I suggest that any high tier items being offered would go to the tf2 players, not ALL prizes, only the unus or stuff like that. By all means let the MC/CSGO person have the festive-izer, but they are most likely not going to use the unusual for a character from a game that they don't play.

They had the same opportunity as you to win that prize.

They randomly got an award from the prize pool and had the same chances as you did for that prize.

However, because they might not play TF2 regularly, we should rig it more in favor of players in the TF2 division to get those awards?

I think a better suggestion would honestly be that the higher the Dom's, the better the prize. This is just gatekeeping awards to an already limited selection of people.

This gatekeeps rewards and I respectfully fully disagree.

Along with what Architect said, this really goes against the whole concept of eGO being one giant community and not segregated "divisions", something I know we've been trying to sort of shift away from for years now in the goals of a more open and collective group.

I agree with Kuantum, Architect, and Simon. People who rightfully earn a prize should be given that prize.

That said, perhaps there could be an alternative prize for those who don't regularly play TF2 (i.e. a Steam card equaling the value of the TF2 item) where winners can choose the alternate prize.

This seems the best idea. We can put a couple of Steam cards in the prize pool. Rose's concern was just a strange professional collector's Gaben's blessed vintage unusual genuine helterskelter community-made golden frying pan going to someone who plays TF2 only for the (rare) Royal Rumbles, granted they are able to make it.

Unlike some games (EXCEPT CS:GO I ain't forgettin' y'all) some items' worths are ridiculous and highly coveted, and some people play this game just for the fashion. I don't need to tell all y'all this, just putting it here for consistency.

I'm not sure I understand. Do you think it would be bad if a participant that isn't a regular on TF2 wins a high-end prize in an event?

Not a regular? No, but someone that never plays TF2 and their activity is in the red (or 0%) on the tracker? Maybe. It's just an idea. I'll be putting at least 2 Steam cards in the pool. Just seems silly for someone who never plays to get something that can only be used in the game they never play.

So just to be clear - are you comfortable treating people differently in these events based on what games they play?

This is the crux of the issue, to me. It's not that a player would get use of the item in game - it's that someone is judging whether they're worthy of winning something or not based on something outside of the event.

In short, "Only TF2 people can win this prize" is an incredibly unattractive approach for me and I would not feel comfortable offering prizes if I knew this were to happen with them. Please reconsider - I feel this would drive participants away if it were indeed a fact that prizes were gatekept.

I would agree with you. Honestly. I wouldn't want someone who just "got lucky" (for lack of a better term) to get a rare item that others would pay for in a game they would never play.

However, if the competition is open to everyone to participate, I would also think the prizes should be more generic. Like Steam cards in place of rare in game items, so we could save that specific prize perhaps for something else like a scavenger hunt or a challenge.

I feel like an easy way to solve this is to add more prizes to the pool, our boy Rose and our O's in tf2 deserves some love and RR would be a great place to start. I think top doms should have their own prize though, because that's the entire point of this right? We wanna encourage the messiest kind of game possible so I propose that the player that gets the highest domination number gets a unique prize. Other prizes can be raffle style, that's a wonderful way to encourage a wide range of people to come. Also, I think specific doms should be rewarded in their own way. Something like dominating both Sr. Managers (Drk and Jeff) would get you a signed cosmetic from one of them. Cheap and not super hard to organize.

I forgot to put this in but it was explained to me VERY recently that the domination amount is not taken into account on what/if you get some prizes. Perhaps that being stated in the posting are would also be more clear so that ppl from TF2 are not scrambling for doms against LE.

I think that instead that you should have to dom ALL TF2 managers in the server b/c it's kinda easy to dom jeff. luv u jeff

I am NOT going to limit TF2 item prizes to only TF2 players, but I AM willing to have some just for doms. As Architect of Life said, we are getting away from the "division" mentality and there are those who are technically under another game who regularly play TF2, so I am not going to take that opportunity away from them. We WANT to encourage them to play TF2, not discourage them.

I'm in the process of making a prize pool for the event and it will be posted on a later RR event post.

Reminds me of Grim, having a hat that represents the community. Also to feed my EGO I'd add an item for dominating ME

It should be posted with the vote thread, or simultaneously, and updated as we go.
