I was playing, and received a friends request from this person..this is the conversation I had with whoever it was. If you get this interaction, and that ask for your steam account info, it's a fraud.. This is not how it works. Be wary!!

Man, way to stick it too him! I hate people who try this crud.....

Suggest getting this posted to all of the house forums or to the news section. This is something everyone should see.

so, hey heres an easy and very usefull response to this stuff

"if you really were part of valve then you should already have access to my account info, os stop trying to scam people and get a life"

Hmm.
I would have some fun with them before I called them out first.

Are you SURE you're steam? Really now? Well, if you say so. Wait, let me talk to your manager. Thats not your manager. Is that your manager? Oh wait, thats just a PUB my bad.

Cap have you reported this to steam?

They may be able to see what steam id was chatting with you and stop this crap.

Obviously he wasn't Steam staff. Steam staff would use proper grammar and spelling for sure. And I doubt that, even if they did contact you through chat, they would need your permission to be added to your friends list. I probably would have had more fun with him though :D.

I prefer to go to the "LLOLOLOLOOLOL" approach if anyone attempts to scam me. Either that, or right click their name--> aliases, and then copy and paste their other aliases. :P

this kind of thing happens everywhere. not just steam. i get these kind of messages in my email, myspace, MSN/AIM, etc. people are just like this for no reason. best thing to do is not to give out any info.

yah... this kind of thing immediately makes me want to mess with his head. Kind of like what AW said. I would totally ask for some other references, proof, then agree to give him the info... but give it to him fake... see if he notices... all that kind of stuff.

frankly, I find these people entertaining, if nothing else.

if your going to scam, learn how to spell and type in a grammatically correct manner?
