In Memory of Jay "jtipton" Tipton

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of one of EdgeGamers’ most respected and beloved leaders, Jay "jtipton." Tipton, who passed away on February 1, 2025, at the age of 68.

Jay joined EdgeGamers in 2010 and quickly became a pillar within our community. His commitment, kindness, and unwavering dedication to the ideals of punk-free gaming made a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to work beside him. Through his leadership, he rose through the ranks to become a Community Manager—one of the highest honors within our organization—and brought with him a vision of unity, fairness, and excellence.

His time overseeing our Battlefield division stands out as a golden era for many who played under his watch. Jay understood what made a game more than just pixels on a screen—it was the people, the teamwork, and the friendships formed along the way. He was known for his calm presence, sharp mind, and steady leadership, always putting the community first and ensuring everyone had a space to belong.

Jay’s love for EdgeGamers was evident in everything he did—from fostering new talent, to stepping in during tough times, to celebrating our wins, both big and small. He didn’t just help build this community; he helped shape its soul.

We will be honoring Jay’s legacy in-game and in spirit, as his contributions will forever be etched into the history of EdgeGamers. His absence is deeply felt, but his impact continues in every member he mentored, every division he uplifted, and every game night where his memory lives on.

Jay is and will continue to be missed. In the busy days of our Battlefield servers, he was always welcoming of new players to the Battlefield teamspeak rooms and happy to get you going on the game.

While many newcomers to the community only saw the later days of Battlefield as the games faded away, some may not know the time Jay put in to building it up to the packed house it was at times. It was all about having a good time and making the servers as fun as they could be for everyone.

He was likely one of our longest standing leadership members, serving originally as an Advisor for several years before taking on the Division Leader position, where he consistently led and stepped up whenever needed. He eventually took on the CM role, and his time as leadership easily spanned the course of 12+ years - an extremely long time for anyone here.

Probably one of the nicest person, you can ever meet, I remember being in a TeamSpeak call on the EdgeGamers server with some friends, and he joined telling some of his old stories, and it was such a pleasant to listen to him.
