Media PC

Well I get bored a lot and I like building computers. I thought I'd just throw together a Media PC to maybe build someday. What do you guys think?

all looks good to me.

suggestion only! I like the cpu, but! for a Media PC... and such a small form factor.. wouldn't one of the BE processors work better? lower voltage + less wattage + runs a LOT cooler = overall happier system? just an idea... it would be like using a laptop processor almost... I think they are only like 45w processors or something really low...

might cost more initially yes, but hey... media PCs aren't usually upgraded much... soooo after a couple months power usage, heat output and all that... will make it worth the investment... it's like $12 cmon...

I was also wondering something else as well. Say I want to be able to hook this up to a TV, I would need some S-Video, component out or something like that.
(Edit - I didn't look at the TV-Tuner card, it has S-Video and an adapater to go from S-Video to composite) >.>

The signal goes into the comp through the tuner, then from the tuner to the TV with the HDMI connection if you have one on your TV, if not then you'll have to get a HDMI -> whatever converter...


I was thinking of building one of those myself... I just can't think of a reason to just yet.... I still have to finish my file server... hmm then after that might be worth it actually...

I still have older TVs. I know the tuner card does have S-Video and some TVs I have do have S-Video. The card also comes with a S-Video to composite adapter so I can hook er up to the TV or through a VCR/DVD player or something. I may also just use my 2nd monitor for it sometimes as well. I can't wait to get this for another reason, I'll have another computer laying around for others to use or if mine takes a crap

Go budget on the PC and drop the serious cash on a projector display. Oh those were the days. Playing the original far cry on a 6 foot display.

I would recommend getting an aftermarket cooler for the CPU. It should allow it to run cooler, and quieter, which are both good things to have in a media PC.
