As I've mentioned on the server before, and it seemed to have gotten good feedback from it, Ego has a unique opportunity to capitalize on the lack of GOOD DM server. Especially a US-based server. With the closure of awpclan, a couple of abandoned DM servers have captured the homeless DM players, but not because they have a good server, but because it's all we've got. I would suggest turning this server into a 32-40 slot FFA DM server. Though, since we're talking FFA, we would need to add a plugin and readjust spawn points, as well as an AFK manager that would move you to spec after 2 mins of inactivity and only start kicking people once the server reaches 80% capacity. If this goes forward and you need help/feedback to set it up, let me know.

I dont recall 'rotation' style DM servers becoming popular. I would like it to be D2 only.

  1. Spawn points - Randomized:

  2. Once you spawn, there'll be a Spawn protection square around you - it'll last about 1 sec (May need to get tweaked in order to just give you time to process the spawn but not give you an eternity to plow someone just because you have temporary protection.

  3. Add the command/plugin that removes bodies, defuse kits, dropped weapons, grenades, and the bomb.

  4. Add a 'reward' system. Aka 10 kills = nade, 15 kills = smoke, 20 kills = single flash, etc.

  5. AFK manager. Plenty of examples in this thread as well as the other post I've made about the D2 server.

  6. Shrink the map if not a lot of players or add bots if the server is under 8-10 real players (specs dont count).

  7. Disable FR or even DS features in this server.

  8. I don't think it needs mentioning, but reset and NOT mingle stats with reg D2 server. Currently they're co-mingled as office setup. At least thats what I noticed during Halloween day.

    It's late, and this is what I've come up with for now. If anything comes to mind, I'll add to this.

Hey guys thanks again for the invite. I was just telling someone that if it wasn't for these servers, I wouldn't play CSS and the people are awesome. I've mentioned to a lot of people about a competitive server and a lot of people liked the idea. Maybe a competitive night on the office server. Best of three on a map rotate and the match time lowered? That would be cool!!! But thank you guys again for keeping it alive. =) Maybe you guys can Teach me how to admin lol Id be more than willing to help.

I would like a rotation of at least 2 of the classic comp maps that are aside from dust2. Although dust2 is nice we should take into account how many great port maps are in source. Some csgo map ports I feel like have more competitive essence in them than maps like office where you can get a bit one sided.
 
Yeah maybe the winning team of the best of three get to vote for the next map? But we all love dust but I agree a lot of classic maps we all love. =) Thanks guys
 
I mean don’t get me wrong I love Dust2 but I also want to advocate for some variety. I mean this is why we need the discussion. Because there’s no doubt people have been wanting a more comp type server and some want a DM server. Dust2 is the most iconic and legendary map in CS but it’s already our main one. I mean two Dust2 servers to me seems a little bit pointless. I wouldn’t mind it being in a small pool of rotated maps, personally, but I know that most others only play and know Dust2 so it’s hard to change especially if you’re going to do comp. You’d probably be a bit discouraged playing maps you don’t ever touch and people are taking it more seriously and you’re getting killed every peek (the proverbial you). So we need to really narrow down our player bases wants for this. Regular polling in our server, to see the appetite for all these things, would help a lot
 
More regular activity from higher ups who can put these things in the chat as well is important. Because, as far as I know/have been taught, I can’t make a poll or shout the server unless I’m just typing it into chat. Then only one side or whoever’s dead or alive can see it. I know we’re just bringing it to higher ups now, but I’d like to see more activity from them in the server trying to collect this data. Because while the server still gets packed regularly some more variety would be nice. And you do hear a lot of people coming in saying they want a different server
 
When you're on the server. Direct people to forums so we can hear their opinions as well
 
It would also get people out of there comfort zone for us that only play Dust2 all day everyday.. I feel a newer player would stand a better chance compared to who play the server everyday it would be a slaughter for a newer player. So maybe different maps would equal the playing field a little bit maybe not. I do know that when you play a map all day every day you have a huge advantage.
