my laptops built in moic wont work??!?!?

ive got laptop runing vista and i load up tf2 go on options
enables mic then did the test its fine maybe a bit muffled bbut i can hear it
then wen im in game people ca see the thing sayin im talkin but no sound!
any one got any tips or advice

option 1: grab a large hammer and slam into the face of the laptop a MINIMUM of 3 times as hard as you can. (this probably wont work, but its gonna be SO much fun!)
option 2: make sure all of the settings in windows are on, in the volume controll, make sure MIC is selected, make sure its not "wave" or "what u hear" or whatever. then make sure its not muted, and crank it up all the way.

if that doesnt work, try option 1
