Alt+Tab out of TF2

There seems to be a lot of problems affecting the game when you alt+tab out of the game to do something. Last time I alt+tabbed out to see who's on ventrilo, when I went back the other team was invisible and I saw rockets from a soldier come out of thin air. I don't think there's a fix for any of these problems, that I know of. Anyone?
nossr does have a point. the overlay program is very useful. i used 2 use it 4 teamspeak, but since i dont use ts ne more, i have no need 4 it. besides its easier 2 just find out who ur talkin 2 in vent by askin who they r. if they wont reveal themselves, then either ignore em or get the overlay program if u want. when it comes 2 the alt+tab issue, def report that to valve & im sure they will either work on it or they r currently workin on a way 2 fix it.

alt-tabbing out of any full-screen game is a pretty big tax on your system's resources...it's not surprising to me that you're seeing glitches in the game afterward. try out nossr's suggestion and run the game in windowed mode if you plan on tabbing out of it frequently.
Can you give me a link to the overlay that u use?

Unless you have a vastly overpowered computer, I'd play windowed at whatever resolution your monitor is. I don't notice much of a framerate drop on my laptop between full-screen and windowed. (dual-core 2Ghz, 1Gb ram, ATI X1300 video card).
I don't know if you use two monitors or not, but if you do, you might try disabling one, as I've had issues with that. I've also had alt-tabbing abilities nerfed by different drivers.
As to your original question about console... I'd try alt-tabbing out of other Source games and see if its an issue with them.

Haha, I'm currently playing on a lap top that's 2ghz dual core, and 2 gigs of ram with the ATI X1400 mobile. I guess I shouldn't have any trouble running it windowed mode. Thanks for the suggestion guys!

I get a similar problem in Counterstrike Source.
Somtimes if i alt tab out, and come back in, shift+tab for steam friends wont work, and escape wont work.
My solution was simply to wait for a while and press the keys i want occasionally untill they start working. So i thought hmmm maybe its a memory issue.
Sure enough (in my case) when i upgraded my ram from 1gb to 2gb, everything worked fine when alt tabbing, and i came to the conclusion that it was my system accessing the swap-file that was causing the issue.
Are you using a PS2 keyboard?, try putting a PS2 to USB converter and use a usb slot instead, the PS2 ports have a hard time dealing with keyboards occasionally because of limited bandwidth.
What are your system specs?
