wanting a laptop for a while, and with pressure from the chief to pick one up before we headed out on a week vac, i searched the local craigslist hard.

one day before we left i picked up a Compaq nx9600 (P4, 3.2gHz 2GB ram) memory card reader, huge display with full keyboard and numeric pad. All 10lbs of it went home with me for $500.

ive been playing TF2 on it for a couple of weeks now as my desktop gaming machine's PS died after an ugly thunderstorm also killing the onboard sound.

Other than the weight and puney battery time (but youll have that also) im really happy with my $500 laptop.
