well first of all i need to no if i should already think of what im gonna get for my computer or if i should wait till i have the cash to decide

can i use my old case for my new computer?

what would you recommend would be the best i could get for around 2000 dollars for a computer i can maybe put it higher a bit but not much

Well what case is it ?

What are your intentions ? Gaming ? htpc ? Both ?

What resolution do you prefer to game at ? (this will determine your monitor, and in turn determine the ammount of graphics power you will need).

So tell us what you want to do ! 2,000 is a great number to build an awesome SLI quad core system with a 24'' monitor so you can game at 1920 x 1200 !

Be a little more specific ... its better to plan out a build first... calculate how much it will cost etc.... its better to pretend you dont have a limit... then make another build with a limit. Try after that to put them together and stay within budget

Very nice budget. What case do you have? If it's a Dell or similar, probably not.

Are you looking to build it yourself or buy a pre-built one? Building it yourself is MUCH cheaper and three times the fun! Don't worry about not knowing exactly what to do right now, there's a lot of places to look for help, and there's always me!

2000 dollars is plenty for a build, you're not going to get as much of a deal if you get it through a retailer. Do you need a monitor? Or are you going to use an old one?

Gaming FTW

im planning on using my old one that is a phillips which i always have on 1204-1024

but my case doesnt ahve any writing on it so im not sure but for my computer i just went to a computer store 4 years ago and tell me give me the best you got

the only words or something i could find on my case were on the cd drive which had lg 52x32x52x
my case is all black and on the front theres a little hatch that opens and closes were you put in the cds and then theres a lock for it
and a bit lower than the middle theres were i can connect the usb and microphone with another little silver hatch that has blue lights on both sides

I'd recommend the Q6600 over the Q9300. 65nm chips aren't as delicate as those new 45nm ones. But, if you have the cash to blow, you might as well.

Yeah, this will play modern games at good framerates at high quality settings. In fact, if you have a monitor, you could get another video card (get two of the exact same kind) Which will give you great performance of a couple of years. All of that stuff was from Newegg.

You'd have to build it. And I recommend you build it, for the amount you want to spend, you're better off building it yourself...What you would get for 2000 pre built, pales in comparison to what you can get for 2000 if you put the pieces together yourself...and that's really all it is, is putting the pieces together properly...I'm sure there are a ton of people on this forum who know how to build a computer who would help, and you can pm me with any questions...It's not hard at all...If you're young, ask your dad to get involved or something.
