internet explorer problems

ok im running windows vista ultimate 32 bit, i can open firefox and it works fine but wen i try using internet explorer it says it cant connect

Are you using any kind of proxy?
How do you connect your computer to the internet?
Is windows firewall on?

yeah my firewall is on and i have a router, but i can open firefox just fine

Check if anything is checked in Control Panel -> Internet Options (or just IE's options) -> Connections -> Lan Settings.

If anything but "Automatically detect settings" is checked it's most likely your problem.

i think your computer is just trying to tell you that IE is evil and you should stick with the better browser ;-)
