Friendly Fire Server Interest?

I tried searching to see if anyone's ever talked about getting a friend fire server but didn't come up with anything. I love the tactical aspect of DOD the best and I think having FF on makes it much funner to play. Although I can see that on public servers FF can sometimes get annoying.

Has anyone ever talked about getting an FF server? Maybe even a private one? Just curious does anyone have any interest to play FF games?

If I remember right, eGO policy is to not use FF. It was talked about in the past and council liked to leave things as they were to keep the fun aspect.

In my own opinion, FF tends to involve more admining. There is also protocol, that if not followed, annoys players and leads to problems. FF works if everyone plays by the rules, but if someone forgets or doesn't apologise for team kills, they get team killed themselves, starting either a text chat war - and the admin gets involved - or starts team killing the other player.

If the server is set up to auto-kill the team killer, then it still is a pain as they will keep doing it until they either get auto-kicked/banned by the server or again the admin steps in.

In the case where a bunch of punks gets on the server and 3-5 of them start team killing, it gets nasty and without an admin, the server empties quickly. That happened quite frequently in the DoD Classic days and more servers went to not use FF for sanity's sake.

I think i remember FF being on and admins were getting a bit testy because of all the team killing.

I totally understand that it's a bigger headache for admins and that it opens the door for a little more abuse from punks. I did not know it was against policy though. Just miss it sometimes, FF games seem to be less spray n pray, less grenade luck, less about how quick you are with the trigger and more about the tactics and teamplay. I was just curious, there was a time when I couldn't understand why you would want to play a server with FF turned off, but now I can't fathom playing anywhere else.

I feel the same way Currahee. FF on makes DoD more fun I believe. It makes me more alert. But I definitely understand why eGO has FF off.

FF?!?

Its hard enough to stay alive just watching in front of you. But when people are shooting at you from behind it suddenly gets less fun. I know its realistic to have friendly fire, but we have this "realistic" freeze cam so we might as well leave FF off. I think admin dont want to be kicking people for Team killing as well.

Frankly if we turned on FF I would just sit in the corner and hide....thats how much I trust my teammates to watch their fire from past experience.

a good idea for FF is to get them to run an ego only server so the arent any annoying tk pubs.

I would love one. However, as it has been said, it would be a pain for the admins, and would really not fit in.

I have no problem personally with Friendly Fire, but as we all know, there are idiots in the gaming world. I'm in agreement with the current ruling.
