Caen Server

While fun, the map actually seems generally larger than the original version of Caen. I'm not sure why (perhaps it simply IS larger), but it just seems much more spread out, and takes longer to get from Point A to Point B.

The old Caen played well with smaller numbers... this one does not.

I apologize, I'm referring to the Caen from the retail version of DoD Classic, which featured the British vs Germans, as opposed to the very original version, which was actually a detonation style map. But... if you have the same map in mind, then yes, it is indeed larger.

The layout is the same, but its increased in size.

I love it. I've played it 1 on 1 up to about 12 on 12, and always had a lot of fun.
I have no graphics issues on it, it runs at 1440x900 on high with no noticeable stutters, and my system isn't that great.
I just wish more people were on! I hop in anytime I'm in DoD, but last time I stayed for about 10 minutes and no one else joined, so I left. Join in!!!

I tried it over the weekend but I had to give up because I was lagging like crazy. Everyone sounded like an echo chamber with the reverb on max. It claimed my ping was 68 or 69 but it seemed much worse. I haven't had any trouble with any of the other maps. Maybe it's too good for my feeble system. I hope to give it another shot soon.

I think this map should be a 64-Player Server due to its size..

I enjoyed Caen from the original DOD. I can't tell if this version is actually bigger or if I just can't remember how big the original one was. I agree though that the source version has a full server to be really fun.
