CoD4 error

I deleted CoD4 to do a reinstall including the folder. Instead of doing an uninstall. Now when I instert the disc it has uninstall on the menu not install. I'm confused. How can I fix this? Also I get low fps of CoD4. Could you help with that too?

No clue buddy, I have the EXACT same problem you have. Did you do a reinstall because of PunkBuster?

because you didn't formally uninstall CoD4, there's still an existing registry entry, thus your computer thinks it's still installed. try the available uninstall option and if that doesn't work you might want to try a registry cleaner which will probably sweep it out since the entry should be orphaned. in terms of your low FPS I need information regarding your hardware.

My hardware. Well it's Saphire Radeon X300 SE graphics card. 1 GB of RAM. Windows XP. I'm not sure of the rest. I know I need a new chipset though. I'm not sure if it's low FPS but I assume so since my internet connection is good. And yes I did Dun. Punkbuster would not update.

Edit: Could you reccomend a registry cleaner? I cannot seem to find one that seems reliable.

I did it. No luck. Though I have noticed a slight performance increase no help with CoD4.

Alright, some things to try.

I dont know what cleaner you used but one of the best, if not the best is CCleaner, this handy tool will clean your registry and cookies in seconds - [ame="http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/"]Download CCleaner 5.02.5101 - FileHippo.com[/ame]

Once its installed, open up the Exe and clean out your cookies first. Once thats done scan the registry (Look to the left, there should be a tab called Registry.



If that doesnt work, go to start > run > and type in your default Call of duty 4 directory, if the Activision/Call of duty folder is still there delete it, even if it IS just the folder and nothing else. (my default call of duty 4 directory is C:\program files\activison - Call of duty 4, yours might be different if you changed the default directory)
