Look at the specifications of your power supply...they should be written on the side of the power supply. Check to see if you have a pcie power connector coming off your PSU.
i hope your motherboard has pci-expressx16.. if it does, i woud personally go with the 8800gts (g92) 512 mb card... it is a very solid card and its only about 200 bucks. great bang for buck performance.heres a link of one.

The better question is, how much are you willing to spend on a new card, as they can range between $200 to $700 depending on brand, and RAM size.

Don't just race out and buy and spend a ton of money on a high end graphics card unless you know your machine can get the best out of it. What is your CPU and how much RAM do you have in the machine? If you have a slow CPU or not enough RAM your video card will be bottlenecked and it will perform poorly. I have an 8800GTS that I purchased in early 2007 and my Athlon 64 X2 4200+ bottlenecked the card until I got a Core 2 Duo.

I agree with what most of the guys said here. Before you do anything post up your computer specs so that we can help determine what kind of graphics card you can handle. Some info that would be handy: Power supply info and name of motherboard and model. All in all i recommend you getting the 9800GTX+ over the 8800GTS. Last time i check before were at 200 and the 9800GTX is a bit faster.
