Why is the currently 9800GTX cost more than the 9800gtx +? Like a 100 dollar difference too O.o.. Cause if its that MUCH cheaper.. i might as well just return the new one i got and exchange for the cheaper one :O

Is this newegg you are talking about? because newegg does have the weirdest pricing around. There's a lot of hardware that are priced like this.

hmm?

Sry i might just be a noob, but what the heck is a 9800 +? I was not aware there was a model called this. Send me the website URL that has the weird pricing and ill check it out for you. I <3 video cards.

It could be that the two cards are the 9800 GTX and the 9800 GX2. If thats the case then the GTX has faster memory, core, and shader clock speeds. But the GX2 has double the amount of cores and double the amount of RAM. So the GX2 is more expensive because even though the clock speeds are lower by default, by doubling the cores and the memory it will run a lot faster.

If I were buying a new card I would probably get the GX2 between the two and eventually do SLI when the card got cheaper. For only saving 100 dollars, gettin the GTX would be wasting money.

And if you have the GX2 dont return it, keep it, but make sure that you have a power supply of at least 550 Watts and make sure your motherboard supports PCI-Express 2.0 so you can get the full power from the card. If you are only running the card at PCI-Express 1.0 or 1.1 then you wont get full bandwidth since the 9800 series cards support 2.0.

You need anymore help im always here.

Btw, this is the best site for buying cards.

hmm

tytyty this shall go into my thought process when buying my GTX280. One question. I am thinking about gettin a GTX280 next month and I would like to do SLI at some point. Would a GTX280 and a GTX280 + lost any power when SLI'd because of the difference in clock speeds et cetera? Should i hold off on buyin a GTX 280 until the + version arrives?

Yes it will, the lower clock speed/less ram/feature set will be the version of the card that gets use, the additional features of the die shrunk card will be lost, except for a lower operating temperature.
