Help!

It's an issue for me and probably many other gamers, but for some reason my Pc cannot open any maps that require downloads. I've made sure the PC is set to 'download all files' but whenever it starts to downlaod them the bar never fills, it just jams, renderring me unable to help fill Dbheights or play in Dragon's Blackmesa map .
After failing it gives me the message: "missing file: "servername".bsl or something like that."

It may be a coincidense but a friend added an 'auto un-packer' to the Pc from the interent and a mariokart and convoy 'file' and these servers I am actually able to acess now. If anyone has any help I would be thankful!

I believe I've found a method of fixing this;

This sounds similar to what I have, and belive it might work but I need to know how I can "download the missing map and add it to the game's root directory".
From where can I do this, and how?

most steam maps load when you join the server itself. another option is to have some one email it to you from their file or send it to you over xfire or msn ect.

if this is a consistant problem, might not hurt to uninstall the game and re-install it - I've had to do this before to fix issues with TF2.

This should work but for some reason the file is not going to where I need it. I've downloaded the file with mozilla firefox and use auto unpacker to unpack it where I want. But for some reason I go to the file I want to, click the ok button and all that happens is a little autoUnpack box pops up that scans it every 300 seconds and the file never appears where I want it to. Am I doing it wrong?

Better yet, maybe someone could tell me where it is meant to be and how to get it there. I'm mising the .BSP file. here's a pic that may or may not help...

I right click the files, click open and it asks me where I want to unpack them. I go to maps area and click okay then this box appears;

all that does is scan them every 300 seconds (?). What then?

That steam link isnt the right solutions. wad files arent on any source or orange box game.

ok easy solution,
1.go here: SteamApps\black_cat\team fortress 2
2. copy folder "tf" and paste it elsewhere so it is easily accessible.
3. Uninstall TF2
4. Reinstall TF2
5. Paste "tf" back into SteamApps\black_cat\team fortress 2

This restores all vital files and dlls yet you retain all custom maps, sounds, materials, models, configuration, rescources and similar files.

I give you a 100% gaurantee this will work.

I also recommend not using auto installs or un-packs or similar things. If you ever need installation help feel free to ask me I would almost promise yo i could solve your issues. I am expirience with server files, client files and most valve game files.

And for the link you posted earlier, wad files arent on any source or orange box game. Wad files were vital to maps back in the good ol' days of hl1 cs1.6 and tfc.

I fixed it! Or, more accurately the chatbox you can see at the bottom of those links fixed it.
I was talking to him and he directed me to .winiwrar which properly extracted the files, which my pc didn't do. Now I have the Dbheights blp file!
Thank you to everyone who posted, as this helped me have acces to nearly half of eGos maps!
