Heavy Med Combos

There are so many different variables that there is no definitive answer. There are times the Heavy-Medic combo will go through and mow people down but I've also seen plenty of times where it is completely useless. The problem that I see most often is that the heavy is moving so slow that it's simply too easy to anticipate where he is going and either A. Blow him up with stickies or B. Charged shot headshot him with a sniper.

With a good medic a heavy can be pretty unstoppable, I have had some awesome medics in my time Bat bear being the most excellent, he always watched my back and was quick enough to heal others and whip out his bonesaw should someone get too close. The main problems I find as to being a heavy is that when I am ubered a lot of medics dont realise that when going into the fray, if theres too much fire power in front of you, whether it be a large group of players or a couple of sentries a heavy just cant advance through the barrage of bullets and needs the medic to run in front to get you closer. The sheer force of it pushes you back and its the quickest way to waste an uber.
The other problem I find often is that medics hit the uber too quickly and when advancing often players run away in all directions when they see an ubered heavy and you have no change of getting many of them as hes so damn slow.

However theres nothing like clearing a room or a bottle neck with a heavy, with a great medic by yourside you really are the Dynamic Duo and I love the rush, As phat said you have to know when to back off and you have to be on the look out the whole time, we have many enemies that are faster and sneakier than us ! I personally find it a very rewarding class and I am truly excited to see what the new updates bring

btw I have currently 205.6 hours as a heavy!!

The more I play Heavy the more I'm starting to prefer the kritz. Like, most of my ubers are done by ambushes, cause there is really no point ubering a Heavy in front of a group of enemies. So, if I'm attacking from their blind spot then I would prefer a shower of crits without damage falloff over range, rather than invurnability.

...If the medic runs in front of you and lets you close the distance quickly, I can usually take out 1 or 2 sentrys. ...

Quick medic rant: Medics should always do this! The medic should always draw the sentry fire so the uberee (heavy/demo/pyro) can have an easier job of clearing out the sentries. Too many times do I see the medic following uselessly behind while their uberee gets knocked all over the place. And uberee's stay behind your medic if he does this!..ok rant done.

Coming from a heavy thats usually pretty effective (with a good medic of course), I have to disagree with the people saying an ubercharged heavy is no good. If the medic runs in front of you and lets you close the distance quickly, I can usually take out 1 or 2 sentrys. The secret is killing the engi within the first 15% of the ubercharge, if the engi is running to his sentry then kill him before he gets there.

Another thing about medics, the ones who will follow you into the fray( as long as your a good heavy and protect your medic) will be the top scoring player on my team. I have went over 100+ kills with only 15 or 20 deaths when we had some good medics on the team. The best is when you have plenty of medics and one can basically be your personal medic, thats when its pwn time for me ehehhe.

I guess the secret is good coordination with the rest of the team, the heavy's wide stance soaks up a lot of fire that would otherwise be hitting the rest of the team. I have around 90 hours or so with the heavy, but the soldier is my greatest class along with demoman. In a pinch though, along with a good medic.....an ubered heavy used at the right time in a fight can turn the tides of war in a flash.

Oh man. Good times :D
I remember this one time as a heavy on Warpath, we were defending on the last point, and closed in by 3 sentries.

I got ubered, took out 2, the 3rd one was taken out by a demo, and then I got kritzed right after. 21 kills in the course of 30 seconds, and that allowed our team to counter push them all the way back, and win the round in the next 4 minutes.

It was AMAZING.

a good heavy medic combo is an ever changing advantage

i have seen good heavy-medic combos get sniped in the first 5 seconds theyve turned a corner and ive seen the same combo lead a team to cap 3 points in a row (on warpath)

It really is all about watching the snipers and spies and knowing where you can hide as a medic to stay out of harms way

the secret to combat these teams is the crit axe
i know that sounds stupid but it works like a charm

The Kritz is somewhat useless compared to the normal Uber. Because after you kill like 3 or more people in like 5 or so seconds your shots will go krit for awhile. I've had it sooo many times that thats happened, and I must say, I love it. :D Also, is it possible to kill a Heavy with 450 health with a full-charge headshot? I've never done that, but then again it's probably my rig.

Well if you use a KK and kill a lot of people, you'll get somewhat of an extension of even MORE crits afterwards. And yes, full charged headshots kill fully buffed heavies.

i don't like kritz that much on a heavy, i prefer demo, u dont have to get that close, and u can shoot over walls and just seems to be more useful for me...

regular ubercharge works amazing with heavy, but its all about communication with each other, if neither of them has a mic, ur pretty much doomed :|
