Issues Still Persist

I have not been here long, but in my two weeks I have witnessed the dust 2 server become riddled with wall hackers.

In talking to people who have been playing much longer then I, including eg members, my experience is that the server has been riddled with wallhackers for ages now and not a single person is willing to step up to plate about it.

I have talked with people who have posted demos only to have them shot down within 5 minutes of posting.

Why are the admins on that server being so casual about this? If any one of you took 5 minutes and spectated on any of the people being accused you would find reason enough for a ban.

I have checked the steam id's on 3 of them and they are all less then 2 weeks old. That either means the players are prodigy's of gaming and can learn how to play like a cal, or they are blatantly using wall hacks.

The answer is the second choice.

Please don't just close this thread, I am asking all those who agree with me to respond to it to give the admins a chance to see how much of an issue this really is, and that it's not just me as a "new" player claiming everyone better then me is hacking.

Please just give this thread a day or two to pan out, that is all I ask and I don't see how it could hurt.

I have been playing here almost 2 months - since my son introduced me to this server. Most of the time I enjoy playing here, and I like that fact that I don't have to look at a bunch of porn sprays and listen to mic-spamming, etc.

Today while playing, I became intensely frustrated with the way chinabear is so obviously wall-hacking that I cursed in chat - yes I dropped the "f" bomb. I'm a 37 year-old ex-military member, a parent, and a college-educated professional and I felt the need to curse at someone in a video game. I offer my sincerest apologies; it certainly wasn't the right thing to do.

Moments later I was kicked and then banned from the server. I will not justify what I did - the rules apply to me too, but we really need some control over the hacking. I'm not sure if the admins are a bunch of teen-agers worried about losing a popularity contest or what, but the level of hacking in the last week is off the charts.

Good luck to you all, I hope someone cleans up the server.

I believe Viper was banned as well for loosing his temper. I can agree that you all broke the rules, but a ban without any warning that is just not fair, and given it was the hackers causing the frustration...

These are hackers who have been on the servers since I started playing, and basically given free reign.

I am a game designer, and come to CS to have some fun when I am not working. Again the servers you all run are clean, no porn, no 12 year olds spamming the mics, but you have a hacker infestation which you don't seem to want to do anything about.

Granted you can just shove us away, seeing as loosing a few members wouldn't hurt your rep any, but over time letting hackers have control will destroy any foundation this group wishes to build on.

I agree with espn and anyone else who has an issue with the hackers. Someone please clean up the servers.

If demo's did anything then yes it would apply, but they don't.

Not sure why it is so hard to ask the admins to just spectate for 5 mins every hour they are playing. It would thin out so many of them.

i lost my temper in the server as well, and i dropped the f bomb. i understand why i was banned, but these hackers are getting out of control.
people who use material hacks (.vmt's) do not get banned by KAC, nor by VAC...if VAC banned people using material hacks, they would also be banning people using skins, VAC only bans players using .dll and .exe files

also I don't see how it is so easy for the admins to ban two members for swearing, when 8+ of us just wanted an admin to spectate for a few rounds.

Hacking is also against the rules of the server, so why should it not be treated with the same conviction as swearing, which is clearly the lesser of two evils, yet somehow garners an instant ban without warning?

i agree there is some wallers in the server but there is also people that are just realy good and some that have good sound

its like me i can hear people coming into long a from pit and i dont even have a good sound card

Well LiT, first let me thank you for pointing out your concern. Input is always appreciated and we love constructive criticism. Now, that being said, I will assure you that KAC is a very good program. However, I will always say that I don't believe any program is perfect and I believe KAC is beatable. So, if you think you see a hacker in the server, remember these two things. First, there are people who live in video games and are outrageously good. Just because somebody's score is really good or they are getting a lot of "lucky" shots doesn't mean they're hacking. Chances are they are really good. Secondly, if the problem persists and you do believe that a player is indeed hacking, stay calm. Nobody likes it when people are whining and getting excessively angry in the chat box and over the mic. Instead, find an admin and tell him your concern. Most of the time they will spectate the person. However, if he/she doesn't, they probably have a good reason not to. Now, I'm not saying our admins are perfect. This being said, if you don't think an admin is doing his job, don't confront him. Just PM an eGO or an Advisor with your concern and/or problem and they will look into it and try to straighten it out.

Now, in regard to Viper being banned, I don't know exactly what happened, but I found Viper's application to eGO. This tells me he is a member or eGO. Since he is a member, as most of you know (or should know), even if you are just a recruit, you are held to much higher standards than normal pubbers. Now, depending on which admin is present at the time, you may be warned, or you may be instantly banned/kicked. Now, I say this because this part should be public knowledge. The rest should be left between Viper and the banning admin and I think that any more discussion of bans should be left to the ban forums.

Now, once again I thank all of you for your concerns, but I ask that you have a little trust in your admins. We don't promote just anyone, we promote people who we know will be a good asset to the servers.

I am only human, of course I'm going to make mistakes, I know we have a family friendly server, but I try to treat most of you guys with respect and not make enemies. I'm always going to express my emotions in the game, I can't just sit there when I know something is wrong, I'm just expressing my opinion. Again, I'm not trying to sound condescending, I am not trying to offend anyone or make enemies. I like to play in the server as much as the next guy in here, but I will always express my emotion when I get irate, thats just my personality, and I really hate to get banned for it. I am not stupid, I'm aware that some of you probably loathe me, I am honestly just trying to get to know you guys and get your approval, that is what im striving for. I'm putting a great effort here and I'm really just trying to earn your respect

don't get me wrong, i have made A LOT of mistakes in the clan, but im trying to clean up my act and learn, even if it may not appear so..it might even appear that im trying to cause drama, im really not, im trying to be under the radar as much as i can...but i cant let go of my values and the things ive stood for in this game just to look good

So let me get this straight. Wall hackers are only attracted to our dust2 server?

Do you think that is what we want to do when we are in the server? Watch for hacker in spectate when 90% they aren't hacking? No, we want to play just like you, not jumping on every person that is accused of hacking by another, if that was the case a LOT of people would be spectated. Dust2 has been around for a long time, people know that map like the back of their hand. They can just shoot through the wooden doors (CT or T) and I bet you'll hit someone right after you spawn. And as far as some people "Shooting before they get around the corner" I even do that! I can hear foot steps and I know someone is around the corner so start shooting before they do. "I have checked the steam id's on 3 of them and they are all less then 2 weeks old" What, beginners can't be good? "I have talked with people who have posted demos only to have them shot down within 5 minutes of posting." Our advisors/council/division leaders know what they are doing. We have seen a lot of demos and we know a hacker when we see one and usually the demos are seen pretty quick and evaluated. Just because you post a contest ban with a demo doesn't make them a hacker.

how can you say they are blatnatly wallhacking? the only way to see it blatantly is if they shoot at a solid stone wall, when the person is behind it and far behind it...

I have played css for about 2 months, a couple of weeks into playing, a few days after i joined ego, i was accused of wallhacking... now why would someone think that? I have played MANY fps's and i know how to use whats given to me... i use the radar and listning for footsteps more then i do anything else. If you have played with me you might have heard me call out where for example the last guy alive was, and thats cause i use my radar... i can sit on the box outside of b on dust 2 and tell you if the tunnels are clear or not becuase i listen.

Now from watching accused hackers and submitting demos, i have learned a bit more on what makes a wallhacker... and alot of the people that people have asked me to spec were not walling, some were, but a very very small %,
Wallhacking is incredibly hard to detect i believe, because its very hard to confuse a good player for someone who hacks.

my roomy has been watching them with wall hacks on his comp, spent all day spectating them yesterday, that is how I can be sure that there are wallers.

Again wasn't trying to cause any fuss, and this seems to be getting out of hand quite quickly.

I just wanted to point out the issue in a somewhat assertive way and hope that something be done about it, I was not looking to be told how big a newb I must be, been at this for 5+ years now, have seen it all, but never seen it through the wallers eyes before.

I encourage any of the admins to get into demo mode and view at least 5 times a day, not sure why that is asking too much, but again its not up to me.

I can't force things to happen, I am just expressing my thoughts because the dust 2 server is the most fun one I have played in ages. Just trying to help keep it clean.

We do our best to prevent hackers from joining our servers, and KAC does a good job doing just that. For now, this is the best we can do as far as preventing hackers from joining. As for banning hackers who are in-game, we only look at a player and spectate/demo him if he is a DISRUPTION TO OUR SERVER. Otherwise, just leave him be. He might be a very experienced player or he might be a so called hacker. Sometimes we can't know for sure but we do our best. An extremely small percentage of the demos we get in are actually of players blatantly hacking (like oldie said). And like i said before, if you see somebody you really do think is wall hacking, message an admin via steam chat or private message.

And @ Viper, you were banned for just 1 day and I hope you can use this time to think about what you did and what to do to prevent future bans.

Well, again. All you're saying is that ADMINS should go spectate. You should try and submit a demo and we WILL review it. Also, 5 minutes to review a demo. Trust me it doesn't just take 5 minutes. I personally would check it myself even if i'm playing because i do it voluntarily and don't mind. However, i do have days i just want to play. Again. This is repeating EVERYONE's response to yours. Submit a demo. If we banned everyone who was supposedly "wall-hacking" then we'd ban a couple of eGO members and quarter+ more of pubs that play d2.

Alright, I think there may have been some confusion, and for that I apologize. When I was talking about being held to a higher standard, I fear you may have read this section as an attack on your behavior. Actually, I was talking to everyone in general because I felt that they had forgotten this fact. I was not at all implying that you are a bad player, person, or member. I'm sure that you're an awesome person and great to play with. And I will say this, there is probably at least one time that every member in eGO has let anger get to them and has let a curse slip. So, if you felt that I was saying that this was a horrendous offense, I apologize.

well I am working on getting something a bit more revealing then just a demo has to offer.

I will be submitting a side by side vid for all those suspected, one from their view, and one from the other sides view.

I will also offer to host any video anyone has of hackers in action on my own server no matter the size.

All I ask is that you get high quality recordings, bandwidth isn't an issue, I'd rather see something in high res so we can clearly see names, etc.

I encourage anyone to take part in helping, not just those who have admin, if we all work together at this it will be a lot easier to get rid of all those ailing the servers we like.

Admining isn't a job, so you can bet on the fact that no admin in there right mind is going to spec just to look for wall-hackers every time they play. Personally, I could give a crap if people wall-hacked in our servers at all. Most wall-hackers can't even use them right, because they try so hard to hide that they end up sucking. The only hackers that we really and truly give a darn about are the ones who aimbot and spam and are speedhacking around and majorly disrupting the server. If there is someone who is using a very undetectable wall-hack and aren't causing mass disruptions in the server, then I personally just don't care. Quit wasting time with thes petty accusations about people who wall-hack and just play. Stop worrying about hackers. Please for the love of god, it is all I have been hearing about for the last week. I have watched every demo that has been submitted into the request bans in the last two weeks, and all showed inconclusive results after I first viewed with the r_drawothermodels 2 command and then in regular mode.

I will vouch for both Viper and ESPN, they are both great players and a lot of fun to play with, and they both care deeply about the dust 2 server. We all have our poor moments, hopefully they will learn from their mistakes and can be re-admitted.
