Comcast Help - PLZ Help me

Hello,

I called comcast a few days ago because I had like 1,000 ping on TF2 servers on CSS and COD4..pretty much every FPS game out there. It was telling me I had 700+ ping on EVERY server and that I couldnt connect because my ping was too high. So comcast came out here, and they told me I couldn't game on wireless because I'm not hardwired???WTH I gamed fine with verizon until we switched to comcast because we thought it would be better than verizon. Turns out its not better. I would not recommend comcast to anyone who thinks about getting it, their tech support/internet sucks.

But, the reason I'm posting is I'm wondering what I can do to play TF2 again I miss TF2!!! Same with CSS and COD4...also my download speed fluctuates. So, what is there that I can do to lower my pings, comcast was no help, was wondering if you all would be.

Also my download speed is around 200kb/s allways when it was 1meg a second WTH!!!

Did Comcast replace everything including the router or did they just replace the modem itself?

Okay frap, what about my second question? Did Comcast replace your router or just your modem?

In other words, are you still connecting to the same wireless router?

When comcast came over today, they did not replace anything. The only thing that they did was accidently disconnect my internet, and then spend 30 min reconnecting it, and rewired some splitters in my booster. They also told me I couldn't game on wireless internet. We have a wireless modem...don't know the name.

One of the EGO servers and all of the other servers have 600-650 ping on this page. The lagg goes up to 2000.

The servers on this page have 1147-1500 ping. The ping goes up to 5000

wow ive never had a problem with my comcast internet. TV yea, but thats not what this thread is about. Im getting like 3.7 Megs a second, on a good day. Average is about 2.2~3.7 Call them up and have them check your splitters. If you get an HD signal from them too, they have to put in a "special" splitter. When we first got HD it did the same thing. Called them up, they ran a new wire and a put in a new splitter, and now everything is great. Hope this Helps!

Something had to of changed frap. You mentioned that your wireless connection was "low". I assume that means that you weren't getting a good connection to your wireless router. If you aren't getting a good connection to your router, then the quality of your internet connection isn't that important.

If you can, run a cable from your computer directly to the router and see if that fixes the problem. If the problem goes away, your wireless connection is the problem. If the problem doesn't go away, then the new Comcast connection is the problem.

As far as your steam download goes that ALWAYS changes. When I download updates or games off steam it goes anywhere from 400kb/s to 1.2MB/s

I'm going to find another ethernet cable and then plug my computer right in the router and see if it works then. I'll call them later on and tell them to check my splitters, every time a technician has came out he said that there was too many splitters, or the splitters were messed up. So every time, some technician changed the splitters around.

Wireless G or B? (and I mean both your comp and the modem) the could use old B wireless or something that would bring your speed down a bit...

I'd give up 15mb of my down to get even 3 more up...

Well I went on COD4 and found some ip addresses of random servers and went into run/cmd/ping (the ip of the servers) and i get pings of around 100-110. Then I went into it and pinged edgegamers.org and got 25 ping. The same with google, amazon, comcast.net. Could it be that comcast is blocking incoming connections to ips that have game servers running on them? or something of the liking. When I join a game off of the master server list, my ping goes down to about 100-150 all the time. But on the master server list it stays at 500, so the server things I have 500 ping and doesnt let me in because my ping is too high. But it automatically drops my ping when I get in the game. Any ideas
