Ok, so in the update, they said they fixed firing through the gates....

THEY DIDNT

So keep your "(ALL)=(eGO)=? The IRS: Please do not shoot through the gates during setup." bind!!

Have a nice day,
Your friendly neighborhood Tax-man

yea, this was confirmed a few days ago, so i still watch for it

In my honest opinion I think fire can and always be able to pass through a grated door in real life and in game (it just makes sense) unless it has an invisible force field or something.

I understand about not killing anyone before the match starts but a simple solution is not to get close to the door unless you want to get burned.

I personally don't mind getting killed if I am taunting the enemy from inside the door.

But like I said it is just my opinion and it does not represent a suggestion or a complain.

:)

I actually liked being able to shoot through the gates. Realistically, stuff would get through, especially fire.

The idea of set up time is so there is no killing going on. Its a time for preparation, taunting. The gate is mesh so you can see through and know what to expect, not to shoot through. Is it so hard to wait 30 seconds to start playing? Unless valve takes out the gates i do not see the rule being changed.

Yea. I mean I know we don't allow it but letting the pyro shoot through doors with both flame and air blast makes sense.

physics or not, valve attempted to patch it which labels it as an exploit.it gives an unfair advatantage before the game can start since you have no way to fight back.

I figured gate shooting wouldn't be fixed, but nothing is realistic about this game to warrant the "its like real life" card when not only has Valve tried to fix it, but like I said, nothing about this game is realistic.

Snipers can shoot through the gates too, I saw it in a tutorial, he headshotted two guys :D

Yah! ^^^ Hes right. :)

I never had problem with it. It sort of makes sense. A grating wouldn't stop open flame, and it seemed in the past valve was only trying to keep the demos, snipers and heavy's from shooting though the gates. However if you look at the release notes for the latest update:

"Fixed grenades, rockets, and flamethrower being able to fire through grates at round starts"

So it's something valve tried to fix at least recently, but they tried poorly because it's still possible.
