G15 or Saitek Cyborg?

I'm currently on the market for a new gaming keyboard (multiple keys on this one don't work anymore) and I was wondering what are some comments or opinions on these two keyboards?

I'd be perfectly happy with either, to be honest...but I'd like the best bang for my buck.

Oldschool G15 FTW! It has servered me well for many years, and you can make awesome LCD screens like this for it:

I don't really like the v2 looks, but if you do, then I say you should totally go for it!

The Cyborg is also a good choice, though, and you would be supporting our sponsor in it's purchase!

Im on a split decision with this as well.. i like the g15 lcd so i can monitor my temps easier..

But i also know that if you play in a competitive environment they dont let you use g15's.. so i do not want to get used to something i could eventually not be able to use should the time come to play in an organized event.

I have the Saitek...

I do have the Saitek Cyborg keyboard, no complaints yet.

A keyboard isn't as important in gamming as your mouse is; however, a keyboard that lights up is pretty awesome.

It won't really help your game, but it's awesome to light it up at night, and the Saitek can be set to sooooo many different schemes, not just one color at a time, but 5 different colors at a time, each a different brightness if you want, or you can just have the WASD keys illuminated, or, you know, you can play with it however you like.

There are 12 programable macro keys, but they really don't make a big difference to me in gamming. I've got mine programmed for TF2 to say all of the voice commands; instead of pressing 'z' than '2' to say Thanks! now I just press a macro key.

The G15 seems like a great keyboard, too - I think it just depends on which you prefer.

the combination light up from the Cyborg is pretty awesome (i have one) though i'd kill for an LCD screen sometimes. Though the more I think about it, the less i believe i'd actually use the LCD screen in game. The temp readout seems very nice but I remember, back in the days of WoW, my group of clan mates had a couple and they mostly used it to see who was talking on vent while in game. Given the abilities present in Steam I don't really think the lcd screen is necessary to show who is speaking as it all ready shows up on screen.


that said. Flip a coin really. I like the lighting on the cyborg though i've found i stick with the green scheme 9 times out of 10. Though occasionally i cycle through red/orange/yellow ect.

not to mention.. when do you look down at your keyboard playing an FPS?. isn't that what a HUD is for?

geeezzzz... i cannot decide.. as i goggle g15 and look at lots of different readouts it makes me want the g16 alot more..

I know my temps.. so thats not an issue, and i can monitor them with a 3d party program in game..

I also know i do not use tons of extra keys on the keyboard like the cyborg has...... the lighting would be awesome becuase my room is always so dark !.. Plus i use a g5 already.

I cant tell if im trying to talk my self out of a g15 or talkg my self out of the cyborg lol.

G15! Do It. Really, though, you would do fine with either one.. They are both excellent keyboards.

I have the old G15, but my screen only shows the stupid things, like date and time. Can't get it to work like you have it. Can you help me out mastermind?

To make custom screens on the G15, you need to have the program LcdStudio. This program allows you to make your own designs for any external lcd screen you own (including the G15 lcd).

To make it look like mine, however, it must access information from many different programs, in order to display real-time data. For instance, on my design, it takes the GPU temp data from RivaTuner, the CPU temp data from SpeedFan, and the FPS data from FRAPS. From there you can display the data on the screen however you'd like and add text and graphs. It wasn't shown on the picture, but my design implements a FPS line graph display under the number showing recent FPS history, so you can determine if the lag spike you had was your FPS or internet connection.

I can send you my design if you'd like, but as I said, you will need all the programs mentioned above installed, correctly configured to give out data, and always running in the background.

I know exactly what you mean..... i already have that stuff running in the background, and generally i know my temps "Tuniq120 on my q6600" and fan set to 75% on my G92's.....

But im kinda liking the options to program the lcd setup to control other things while i game...

I think im gonna go cyborg because i know my stuff regularly..
