You shan't be the first to try that. I just built it about a month ago so I'm still playing with temperatures and voltages, just making sure it's safe and stable. The i5 655k unlocked CPU was such a deal I couldn't pass it up! I've never actually dabbled in overclocking, but since everything seems well with the new machine, I'll probably have clock it up in the next week or two. It will be nice to give the heatsink a good workout too. It's a Corsair and it's like a skyscraper sitting on top of the mount in there.

i got my i5 650 up to 4.5GHz (proof) bench stable on air cooling.

You have an unlocked multi, it should be even easier.

It would bench fine, superpi and stuff was all good, and i could get it stable w/o HT, but it wouldn'f fold or P95 @4.5 w/HT on

That's not stable. Stable isn't a percentage. It's a "switch".
Either you're stable, and can do anything without error,
or you aren't stable and can't do certain things without error.

There are varying degrees of instability, though. Such as a little unstable: artifacts, improper calculations. Then there's OMFG WHY AM I ALIVE unstable: BSOD when you try to do anything.

I can boot all the way up to 4.7, but I can't validate that

nice and simple... I have an 21" iMac no additions, no extra components, it's all i use to frag with and it seems to do the job..

Now what i would like, haha... Well, I'm really into macs now, having one has made me never want a PC again, i think they are brilliant. I suppose i wouldnt mind the top spec Mac Pro for gaming, with all the additions and some super duper flashy screen, but that would upset my non-existent bank balance, one day hey?

tbh reflex, i don't really know.. I bought it for school work really, have not even looked at the specs.. Just found out that steam supported DoD:s on macs now so put it on here, seems to run okay, i get major lag when there is smoke and when i tab to look at the scores, so it's actually not to great.. But i can still kill people and remain over 2.00 K/D.

sounds amazing dude :) I have a mac atm :( its awful for gaming, 1GB of ram! haha, Im hopefully getting a pc around christmas time, Im not sure what to get!?
 
1 gb ram. lol. Dod may even be hard on 1 gb ram.
I recommend what I got. Strong comp. With not to bad meens of upgrading.
 
Yes, DoD is a bit of a let down with 1 GB of ram, How much did it cost you roughly for what you have?
 
Ouch, that's quite alot... I dont know how much I'm going to spend, I'm not to sure whether to get an i5 or an i7, all I'll be doing is DoD at the minute, i may go on to get other games like Black Ops.. I'm not sure, what do you reckon?
 
not sure where you live, but in US, you could get a rig that would play dod at 300 FPS for about $900, maybe less
