If you're just playing DoD:S and CoD:BO, you could get away with an i3, or i5 dual core.

One you get an i7 you will never look back.

I went from a Phenom II X2>Phenom II X6> i5 650 dual core>i7 quadcore

Hopefully I will be getting a i7 hex-core around xmas.

The i7 just feels so much faster than all the other ones

my i5 760 does feel significantly faster than my athlon II x2, even my friend's athlon II x4
 
more operations per cycle is win :D


are you in unbuntu? I am bored, you arent on steam.....
 
I just built my first brand new computer in a few years:

Intel Core i5 760 (2.88 Ghz Quad)
G Skills Ripjaw 4 GB DDR3-1666 - note, the CPU supports DDR3-1333
EVGA GeForce 9800 GT

Let me tell you, coming from an Athlon 3500+ is such a HUGE improvement. With the same video card I am getting 300 fps in DoD at all high settings except for no AA and Trilinear filtering. Before, with the Athlon and 9800GT I was lucky to keep a consistent 50 fps LOL

Thats really sad synergy :( ill recommend you buy a better computer, once played DOD:S on a laptop that made me avoid smoke grenades. :P I know how you feel.
 
Yeah, I lag out when i see smoke, I lose sound when i see smoke (have to restart DoD:S), so around christmas I'm going to buy a pc, which should hopefully give me 300 fps :) and not lag around smoke, lol!

the 1600w was first used in my dual 8800GTX system with a QX6700 with the whole system on water.
