Aw yes. Running with the ITX form factor now. Frankly, more people ought to be scaling down their rigs to at least mATX. mATX can OC just as well as ATX and has just as many features that people use. And if someone's planning on only using one card and a few drives, ITX will do all that, too.

Saw this review a couple days back. Kinda funny that I randomly see it after just asking about it. I see what you mean about it having some shortcomings.

Performance is not exactly impressive considering it can't even match the nh-d14. I assume this is a newer model too.

MATX does not allow for effective multi card setups.

Elaborate on that please. I'm not a huge fan of buying uATX board either if you plan on a mid or full tower case, but beyond that, are you talking as far as spacing of the pcie slots? Or what exactly?

you have to put the two cards right on top of eachother, with no room for airflow. It is almost impossible to cool something like dual 6990s with their awkward center-fan-in-a-box heatsink on a uATX board since the bottom card will block almost all of the airflow to the top.

It's old but it does its job well. Kind of wish I had a quad core so I could run some VMs for compiling programs, oh well. I can't find any that fit my motherboard that are a reasonable price.

My next upgrade will probably be a Hauppauge HVR-2250 and a OCZ Vertex 3 SSD for the OS since the Vertex 3 I put in my MacBook has been doing so well.

Or some have 3 pcie slots. While I realize this is probably the exception and not the rule, it is still a possibility. I however do not really see the benefit of a smaller mobo in a large case as price is usually not much cheaper (if at all).

Not to mention how many users actually have to deal with multi-GPU setups. And of those, how many are in a situation where they need as much cooling as crossfire 6990s. It's like building a rig with 32GB of RAM. Sure, there are specific instances where someone may need it, but the vast majority of gamers, let alone general users, would never touch that amount.

Lets be honest, the only uATX boards that are completely feature parity with solid ATX boards are ASUS' Gene boards, and they really aren't a whole lot cheaper in most cases than a comparable ATX board.

I have a Gene III btw, it is sick, probably up there for one of the best 1156 overclocking boards.

Yeah, but that's kinda my point. Most people don't even use all of the mid-tower features. I would expect most gamers have at most two hard drives and an optical. Maybe a card reader. Although there are some ITX cases that can support six hard drives, and 6 mATX cases with 5 expansion slots. So, if someone isn't going to use all the slots in their case or all of the features on the mobo, why would they pay for them?
 
Cooling is one of the main problems I see with smaller cases for a gaming machine. Reflex brings up a great point as far as the actual muATX cases are concerned, a second card could not be put in that slot. However, that makes me think that most people still get a mid tower even if they use a smaller form factor mobo (if they are going for a multi card setup). The main problem I see with the micro cases and mobos is that they are still quite expensive. Not sure if you gain anything from them except limiting yourself and possibly resale value. Obviously, if you want a smaller case for some reason, then you are forced into a smaller mobo, but if you are going to get a larger case (which is a must imo for a gaming computer to get adequate cooling), then you might as well get a mobo with more features while paying the same amount or slightly more.
