Oh, and you don't see it, but I've got the 230watt subwoofer directly behind the couch. I like to feel the rumble when watching a movie or when gaming! :)

nice, a projector screen, hows it look? i never really found it really clear to me, always see pixels. maybe because im to close ROFL

nice rig though, but 2gb of ram? for shame XD

It all depends on the resolution of the projector. If I was using a 480p projector, then it would look terrible sitting that close to it. As it is, I'm just on the edge of my 720p projector's limits. If I sat a foot or two closer I would start to notice pixelation, but at my current seating distance (and screen size), it's great - as clear as my 20" PC monitor (and way better picture quality..)!

If you can, and you're interested, try to find a place in your area that sells (and shows) HD projection systems... Just because you go in to look, doesn't mean you have to buy anything from them (I bought online after), but when I was having the same concern as you (that I needed to go 1080p at my seating distance and screen size) it assured me that 720p would do. It's also a good way to check out with your own eyes the differences between projection technologies, and if you experience the rainbow effect on DLP models (like I do).

As for the 2GB of ram, you must remember I built it a year and a half ago. Those 2 sticks of DDR2 cost me $255 (after rebate!) at the time (I looked at the Newegg receipt). And, to be honest, I still haven't found a game that needs more than that. I even run Crysis at Very High, 4xAA at 720p, no problem.. You're right, though, and that's partially what I meant when I said it's starting to show its age.

yeah ive worked pretty hard to get this computer up and running, cost me lots of cash.

yeah i was risking it with the NIC card because i had heard mixed reviews about it. I had pings of about 80-95 before i got the card and now ive got about 40-50 so a good buy for my computer.

ill send another pic or two once i get my mako speakers in.;)

this looks really nice man but theres no need for ddr3 memory and get some 10000rpm drives, youll be happy you did. Also, at this point theres really no need to overclock that cpu you dont need the extra power unless youre using acid or vegas to do songs and movies. also, make sure you get 64 bit ultimate to use all your memory

Looks like a lot of people here have very nice systems. Here is mine:

my friend back in saudi has a blackbird and he has a lot of problems with it, BSODs and overheating problems. How does yours run? any problems that came with it from the factory?

Not yet. I hope I dont run into problems with the RAID and NVRAID on this 680i when the new raptors come in.

Is your friend running Vista? First thing I did when I got this was to install XP.

I thought so too, which originally prevented me from buying two of these. Newegg is carring the 150GB version which is also 3.5" backplane ready. $189

yeah i have a 150gb raptor and a 300 gb velociraptor, love em both

then i have my little ol 160gb 7400rpm caviar drive

the 150 is for games.
the 300 is for vista 64 bit
the 160 is for 32 bit

pretty good setup, ive never really been a fan of raid.

i back my stuff up on two externals;)
