How do I get the e by my name because ive already been accepted as an e. Also when im ready to join a house and apply for an acceptence as an eG, do i just go apply or do I need permission to apply? Thanks ahead of time for all of you help.

To get the "e" by your name, you just go to "My settings" at the top of the screen. Then on the right side there will be your control panel. Click "Edit Profile", near the bottom you will find it.
"Show =(e)= Rank Bar
If you are currently an =(e)= member, this box can be checked to display an =(e)= rank bar under your name.
This setting will not overwrite a higher rank bar.
( - ) Do Not Display ( + ) Display"

To change the name displayed in the game you change the name at the Steam screen. Not the DoD screen. There should be a user settings pick. Probably under the file pulldown if it doesn't have its own icon (I think there is one). You can copy paste it from here to get the nice little trademark symbol.

You can't make an application to get =(eG)=? or =(eGO)=? if that's what you mean...
As Rasmus pointed out you can't apply for =(eG)=™ or =(eGO)=™.
Promotions are decided by strange figures in a smoke filled room, amidst the stench of cordite and the stale dregs of alcohol. Yeah right!
Each house has a forum with stickies (notices everyone is supposed to read). Reading them does not obligate you to apply. Each house has a little bit different attitude and some favor one map over another.
I'm in The Raiders and they like to play on Donner. When Donner is full I have never been made unwelcome playing any of the other maps.
Check out the different houses and see what you like. Ask people on the forums or in the game. Do not have long discussions in the game! Keep it short so as not to block the guy screaming "Need help at Tank" as the grenades start dropping on his head. The life you save may be mine.
The forum stickies for each house will tell you how to apply for membership in that house.
Once your accepted they will tell you how to add their Tag to your name.
