Okay this post is for players who just want a mic setup with the audio still coming out of their speakers during game play. There are many kind of mics out there from 1/8 jack based that goes into your sound card or mobo. There are USB interface that are convenient because of clarity and set up. I have yet to see any wireless that is simple and to the point of using it as a mic. There are blue tooth setups but they tend to get expensive depending on the mic you have. The plus side is you can use it on the PC and your phone I guess.
I just currently setup my wireless headset from Microsoft for the xbox 360 and I love the results. So clear and easy to use. You just pop it on your ear and your good to go. Its wireless up to 30 feet! That is freedom! Now what you will need for this set up is:

It sells for 19.99 and not only does it allow you to use the wireless headset but also the wireless controllers and steering wheel. Perfect for driving games and fighting games like mugen!!!! I don't know if Gamestop or other gaming retailers sell it use so double check to save even more money.
2.Xbox 360? Wireless Headset

This puppie can be anywhere from 49.99 to MSRP 59.99 depending where you purchase it. Remember check Gamestop and other local gaming stores. Don't forget NEWEGG!! This is the most expensive part of it but trust me its worth it for the wireless freedom you will get.
Once you get both the Gaming Receiver comes with drivers on a CD. You can either choose to install them or get the latest from Microsoft's website because I installed the CD and there was an update for it. So I think the drivers are a bit old. Then after all is said and done you can connect the receiver to the PC and link the headset to the PC. Instructions how to do so are provided in the manual and its very easy.
Now you will need to go into you sound settings because when it is link the PC will automatically set all audio to the headset. Sound and Recording but all you need is recording. To change this go into Control Panel and choose sound and audio devices.Choose your audio tab, Make sure your sound playback is on your on board audio or external audio card depending on your setup. Then make sure you Sound Recording is labeled Microsoft Xbox 360 wireless headset. Then choose the voice tab and make sure its the same as the audio tab. Voice Playback= on board or external audio(depending on your setup) &
Voice Recording=Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless headset. Once this is done click OK. Now on Steam not in game you can configure how loud to be and hear yourself. Note you might have to change the volume of the mic from the control panel. Just go back to the Voice tab and click the volume button and set it to a right level. You are done. Congrats!
