is steam down?

right after the new heavy update, i log on and finally join an arena server. then the game completey crashes and my computer froze up. When i restarted, it wouldnt let me log into steam.
i know my internet is up but steam wont let me log in...

i figure its because of everyone trying to play TF2 the whole system crashed or something.

i got my downloaded and tried it. pretty interesting. urs probably doesn't work because so many people are downloading rite now. the only reason i got it was because i was gonna play rite wen it came out. so lucky timing i guess

steam should run update through a torrent like world of warcraft does. The updates would install in seconds if they did.

No, what they should of done was have it upload in small bits over the last week, where every day you would be able to download the content released on the site.

That way, the downloading would have been kept to a minimum.
