Im getting a desktop... read this! :)

Ok so basically let me start off by saying this. I only own a 15.4 " laptop (core 2 duo 1.6 ghz, 2gb ram, 80gb hd (not enough), 512 mb graphics, built in webcam) and i have never owned a desktop. heck, there isnt even a desktop anywhere in my house! (sad aint it? :p). I got a laptop stand so i can put my laptop up and use an external keyboard/mouse so its somewhat like a desktop... xD

So i have saved up a good 2000 from my job (i work on a website for my brother), and im willing to spend as little as possible of my savings :p

Ive been looking and i think i found the one. im too lazy to build my own so id rather just buy a cheap one already put together. i need a monitor as well. I wanted all your opinions on the following items i have decided on.

The computer (package, comes with a monitor):

So what do you guys think of this? I believe this is the best "bang for the buck" but what do you think? I know the processor isnt the best, but im sure i can upgrade if it really isnt enough (which i doubt). I doubt ill be playing crysis on full settings or anything like that, although i do want it to be able to run most games on full settings... like tf2 and such. I have found a place where i could buy a really cheap dell and get a slightly better config for cheaper, but i heard dell sucks and the quality is bad and it wont last more than a year or two. Is this true? And do any of you know anything about lenovo?

Any feedback is appreciated!

ps: im a HUGE multi tasker which means i can have over 10 tabs up at a time, including mozilla with like 20 tabs up xD. I pretty much take my laptop to the max and i want something that can handle more. I want to be able to alt tab out of multible games, chat to 10 people on steam chat, chat on xfire, listen to music, have a video up, have mozilla up, etc and that is what my laptop cannot handle... so im sure the 4gb ram on this desktop will definately come in handy >: D

Yay! first to reply... hopefully this is helpful..
First off, you might have trouble fitting the 8800 in, it looks like it may be touching the RAM (I don't know the exact measurements inside the board, but the 8800 is pretty long). For that matter, it think upgrading anything on the board would be a bit of a hassle, but it seems alright stock. Oh, and the ram might be a bit slow for you to do EVERYTHING you listed.
As for the card, have you considered ATI? I think you should give the 3870 a try, it's $150 with a $25 rebate, so about 10 dollars more, but that all depends on your preferences.
As for the PSU, I think you should spring a little more for the Antec Earthwatts (500 W).
Overall, great deal :D My school uses Lenovo products (both desktops and laptops) and they're pretty reliable. And yes, Dell does suck, and you can't upgrade anything on them cause they glue their parts in.. jk on the gluing part

You might think about upgrading the cpu also..

I'm also a HUGE multitasker... (sometimes there are 3 3ds max's running and photoshop+indesign at the same time and even dods minimized) And i'm running a 3.2GHz AMD dual core wich does the job with 2GB's of ram... (running 32bit)

But I selected all the components not just select a default on and thing adding a new GPU would do the trick... (Just think about it ;))

Should be fine.

Take a look at this 9600GT. I believe it gives comparable performance to the 8800GT.

I would also recommend going with another power supply. That Thermaltake that you linked to is pretty weak on the 12V rails. I would go with a power supply that has at least 17 amps on each 12V rail, or 30+ amps total on a single 12V rail. Something like this should be more than enough.
 
Where I work we sell (and use) Lenovos with that style of case. You will have a heck of a time getting that card into the case and the airflow is crap.

If you don't want to build one yourself, try our sponsors or go to a local PC shop and have them build you a machine. Just tell them what you want and let them give you a quote (shop around and make sure they are in good standing with the BBB!).

For a bit over $500, I was planning on building this rig. It still needs a graphics card, but I happen to have a spare 8800 in my older rig.

I'm pretty sure everything works, although its missing an upgraded CPU cooler, a graphics card, a blu ray player, and a DVD burner, although it has a DVD player.
It also is missing a OS if you don't have a spare copy lying around at home.
 
Also, if you want to multi task, and run Valve games on full setting, you will need a better processor.

Valve games have been known to be a bit more processor heavy than other games, and the CPU listed in your post is a little old.

First off. ok if the 8800 is too big then ill go with my second choice i was looking at the 9600 (the exact one dr death showed me) but is it smaller and will it fit? And i chose this lenovo because it comes with a 19" monitor with it for 500 bux which is amazingly cheap. and like i said ill upgrade the cpu if needed, later on. but for now i think it will be enough. i know its an old processor but this deal is very good and its just the price i want :)
As for the keyboard and mouse i already own a gaming keyboard/mouse that i use with my laptop (up on a stand), so ill be using those of course :p

and awp, you gave me a link to your wish list, not a link to the actual product so i dont know which product ur talking about :p

and as for the power supply, i guess ill go with this one that dr death mentioned that is only 30 bux after the rebate

lol, my laptop (with the specs i posted in my first post) could EASILY handle multiple flash bangs thrown at me :P fail! xD
 
I'm not sure if that PSU will fit in the chassis...chassis is Microtower which might be too small. graphics card will probably fit.
 
I use a Dell because I got a really good deal for mine. Before this I have been running a dell for a LONG time (my old dell is very old, I got a 1 year used one for like 250 bucks and i used it for over 2 years). It had a 16 mb graphics card - I know its hard to believe I was living off a 16mb card till earlier this year! I won't say Dell is bad, they're like any other company. Their products are really overpriced, but I got a really nice one from them so I'm happy with it. Other than that the only thing dell makes itself is the motherboard and psu (i think) so if a dell sucks its probably because their mobos arent the best like an asus would be but for the price if you can get a better one I would say get the dell. There are no levnono in Canada so I can't comment on how those work but overall all companies are the same - a custom built PC will be a lot better.

Edit: NEVER GET AN INTEGRATED CARD!

actually you can customize a desktop on their website for INCREDIBLY cheap...
 
Yeah, I linked you to my wishlist. Its what I would build. You could tutorial it or get a friend to do it :D
 
I customized a cheap dell after looking around and i got the desktop (including 22" monitor) with the following specs for $558. (after all costs, free shipping)

And i'd still have to buy a separate graphics card from newegg. (probably the 100 dollar 9600). I could later buy 2gb of ram to put in if i wanted to later (cus its only 2 dimms). Would i also need a power supply?

and btw i cant see the product awp only you can
