Halo - Come on, it is the most over-rated game of all time by FAR. If this had come out on PC instead of console it would have been a mediocre sell at best.

Uh it is out on PC. And it is not over-rated, far from. What is an example of over-rated is Halo 3

I agree. Yes, I really like Halo, especially the third installment but it's damn overhyped and overrated. Too many Xbots trying to win their little console war. But it's by no means a bad game!

Yes, Halo came out on PC but how long did the port take after the first release? a year? I'm saying if Halo had come out on PC first. Or even better, if it had come out on PS2 rather then XBOX. No XBOXLive, only multiplayer it had would be split screen. Can you say fail?

That game is ok at best. It does not deserve 3 equally over rated sequels, books, toys, and a damn movie based on it. It's not that good.

You have to give it some credit. I remember seeing it for the first time as a long time fan of the series on the NES/SNES, and the first 10-15m were just jaw droppingly good. Especially for those of us sitting there thinking "ZOMG, it's gonna be like FF6 and look like this! /drool". It's not til later you realize you're going to have to waste time on inbreeding chocobos, racing minigames, and pretending to care about Aerith

I'm starting to wonder if you even played Halo CE.

Halo CE had one of the best single and co-op missions as an FPS for the xbox.

IIRC, when Halo was first released Xbox Live! hadn't come out, so Halo was later re-released with online play. I have never owned an Xbox though, so I could be wrong.

E.T. was hands down the worst game of all time. But in a close second is Zelda: Wand of Gamelon (CDI). If you have ever laid eyes on it, you will agree.

I'm gonna skip over Superman 64 and E.T because they've been mentioned so much so I'm gonna go off and say Dungeon Lords. There was NO redeeming qualities in that game what-so-ever.

I played Halo and Halo 2. Never played 3 as I don't feel like wasting 2 motorcycle payments on a game console. It has a fun multiplayer if you're playing with friends and a decent story. But how does an okish to goodish game become the "Z0MG L337T3S7 G4M3 OF 411 TIM3ZORZ!!!!1111"? It is SO ridiculously over rated. By the time I bought an XBOX it was well after 2 had come out. I picked up a used XBOX with both halo games (and some others) for $100. So, by the time I sat down to actually play it, both games had gone on to be gods of the gaming world. For me, it didn't live up to the hype at all. Far from it. It was a decent console shooter....... nothing more.

In my oppinion Halo is a great console shooter, it's fun and I have a great time playing it with my friends. You are absolutely right that no one would hype it nearly as much if it would be a PC shooter. In my eyes Halo is better than most other console shooters, that doesn't mean however that it's better than every other game there is. It's simply not. It is overrated and overhyped like so many other great games.
I can only speak for myself anyway...

I'd agree that it might be the best console FPS. To my knowledge, it was the first console that brought the 'epicness' of a pc shooter to console. But, again, I came into it with everyone saying it was the 'greatest game of all time'.

....yeah....not so much.....

Hype sells. Halo is overhyped, ergo more $$$ for Bungie.
But yeah, you're right. It's not as good as everyone says. Sure, it's good and it's fun, but it's nothing special.
But then again, it's all a matter of personal taste. You may not like Halo as much as I do, I may not like Metallica as much as you do. That's how it goes.
