Greatest Game Of All Time

wolfenstein 3D was a great FPS
gran turismo games are the best racing games i think bar none
best fighting games would have to be tekken (2 to be specific)
umm sports would probably have to be the NHL series for sega genesis, or cool boarders 2 baby!
umm puzzle would have to be a game called IQ
RTS for me, red alert (the first one)
adventure would be Kirby for reg nintendo, tho sonic was great
RPG is kinda a tie between final fantasy 7 and star ocean 2, tho i'd lean more towards star ocean 2. the graphics are not as good but the story line and the gameplay is way more in depth. its also probably one of the best sleeper games, most underrated games of all time.

counter strike is great though because the game play does vary every single round, for the most part, with so many maps etc etc. it will always be popular.
the best MMORPG i've played is either FlyFF or R.O.S.E., but will soon be DragonBall Online

I played Unreal Tournament (the original) for about 5 years all through middle school and some of high school... I guess that's why I never experience CS 1.6 :P Too busy playing a faster paced game getting my reflexes in order!

I would say that's my favorite game just because of all the custom mods built for it and for the community I was a part of. Just like here, everybody was friendly and the league I played with was very structured. However, the best part would be beating some people's best time on assault maps, which became a personal past time for myself and many others. I'm just sad to see that UT'99 has pretty much died away while the newer (and suckier!) versions are attempting to become some other game like Planetside rather than stick to the old tried and true formula!

1 - Zelda :OOT

Honorable mentions:

Source Games: (HL2, CS:S, TF2 and portal)

WoW - simply the best MMO out there, it's endgame play is unrivaled

Medal of Honour: allied assault - great game back in the day, i consider it the definitve WW2 shooter

Starcraft - amazing RTS, the skill level in it compared with other RTS's is mind-blowing, it is the only true e-sport at the moment.

Goldeneye/Perfect dark - quite dated now but the good old rare forumla of FPS gave me hours of fun.

Tetris. Its simply an unparalleled puzzle game.

Out of more recent games, WoW has to be acknowledged due to it having the largest player base for a game EVER. Whether or not you enjoy playing it, you have to respect it in that sense. Half-Life 2 is also a great game. It got something like 35 game of the year titles. Other than that, I enjoyed Ocarina of Time, and the Mario series. I have a hard time pinning them as the greatest game ever though.

Other than the Mario and Zelda mentions, everything said here is dead on. Tetris would easily be my number one pic simply because anyone can play it and easily fall in love with it.

Jedi Knight 2 : Jedi Outcast is one of the best i've ever played, not the best but it's really, really good. It's not a classic but, it's a nice game.

My favorite game of all time is DoD but I would feel like a loser if i didn't put a non-eGO game in here

so my 2nd favorite would have to be the God of War series.

So many great games over the years, hard to pick one, my top picks are:
Psychonauts - Such a great game, original, funny, and extremely fun to play.
Baulders Gate 2 - Defiantly the greatest RPG of all time, great plot, probably the best character development out of any game I've played, and very witty and funny.
Freelancer - One of the best games from the ever so great and on life support genres, Space Sims. Was a very fun game with amazing graphics... completely unrealistic.. but great too look at.

ooo baulders gate 2, that game rocked

OOOO so did Sword of Shannara!!

Jedi Knight 2 : Jedi Outcast is one of the best i've ever played, not the best but it's really, really good. It's not a classic but, it's a nice game.

I loved JKII. Pre-ordered it for the PC and everything just to get the free shirt (which they didn't even get for me, grr). I was so upset that multiplayer for that never really took off beyond saber duels. It had some great CTF maps and the force powers that you used helped to make it a great team game and really, class based in a way. Too many people would get upset with me for using the guns in that game mostly instead of the saber.

My greatest game ever is probably Diablo 2.
And once Diablo 3 comes out...
Life will never be the same.

Im changing my vote for this, simply the best rts game ever made. I remember the good times landing my longboats on my enemy's shores and unloading a bunch of berserkers and rams! Man those mayan eagle warriors were terrors weren't they? Oh and those tuetonic knights walking like slow tanks through a hail of fire with only a few dropping. So many great memories of that game, oh and tarkans, talk about the ultimate horseman, a guy with a torch riding a horse! I think im going to go reinstall it.

AoK was one of the first serious games I had ever played. And I played it all the time. But now, I'm going to have to say my favorite is a tie between Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion and Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind. Speaking of, I'ma start playing that again.

i retract my previous favorite game of all time. the best game of all time had the best villain of all time and easily the best story of all time. In America it was final fantasy 3 but in japan it was 6 i believe and i think it has been re-released on the nintendo ds. It had lots of replayability cuz it was that good. ff3 (6) > anything

k i just looked up and it seems that the one for ds is really different than the one i played on the snes a decade and a half ago. look up kefka and you'll see the one i'm talking about he was the villain in the one i played. i was hoping they re-putout the one i played.
