So my parents took Team Fortress away...

Hum. Well then I dunno what to say. If your telling the truth, then I dunno. I had an abusive father, so I could find a way to agree, but that depends on if your being honest.

If your just goofing off, then...

eh, my mum wants me off TF2 alot, but its on my brothers laptop and she cant even surf teh ewb without help -_-

No matter what, you really should listen to your parents. I can understand hating a parent who attacks you, but if your parents simply mean to have you grow up well, ya need to listen.

I'm pretty much with everyone else on this one. You need to lay low for a while, which includes removing the game from your hard drive before they find out you got it back. If that happens, you'll probably lose that nice computer altogether, along with whatever privileges you may still have.

If, in their anger, one of your parents is backhanding you or something, that's straight up abuse. But if by 'hitting' you mean spanking or something non-spontaneous within that same category, then you probably won't get far. As far as respecting them goes, as long as you're living under their roof, eating their food, using their utilities, and all around spending their money, you're obligated to do as they say, whether you like it or not. If that means that you have to do without tf2 or other like-minded video games in your house while you're living there, then that's what you're going to have to do.

I don't believe you really understand the parent/child relationship. You make this sound like all of sudden, they took all this from you, but then you talk about being mature and going behind their back in the same sentence. You don't have the right to go behind the wishes of your parents whenever it suits you. Obviously a pattern exists here and they've just become tired of dealing with it. Since other tactics probably weren't working, they removed what they felt was a root of the problem.

I was grounded and spanked quite a bit when I was young. No tv, no nintendo, no nothing for a week, 2 weeks, whatever my parents felt appropriate. The bottom line though, is that they did that for my own good. I didn't understand it at the time, but they were trying to impart important life lessons to me when I was young. I learned respect for them and appreciation for the things that I had. Now I have a great relationship with my dad, and I'm thankful for it. The one thing you should go after more than anything before you go to college is the trust of your parents. I sympathize with you in regards to losing the game. That really does stink. Just do yourself a few favors; get rid of it before they find it again, and sit back, relax a little, and think about what got you into this whole mess to begin with. I guarantee that if you pay more attention to what you're doing and the ramifications of said action, you'll be much happier and get in much less trouble with your parents.

My parents dont care if I play games as long as I keep my grades up. My averages have been 86% but my parents want 90 -.- But anyways as long as my marks dont go low I can play games, they just care about results. I'm going into grade 10 honours level and they got my my own PC in my room :3 So my suggestion (sry for not readin the last 5 pages) is to do well in school and it will do wonders.

Not to be fresh or anything, but maybe if they took it away in a way that didn't involve screaming, swearing, and sometimes hitting, I wouldn't have taken it back. I find hard to respect people who do that kind of things to you.

You know Ramba, right here is a problem. No matter what transpired for you to lose your stuff in their eyes, whether you think it was nothing or they are over reacting, by going behind their backs, your risking be punished for longer and perhaps even more severly. If your parents are treating you in an unacceptable way, its up to you to rise above it and behave in a more responsible and mature manner. Just the principle of you going behind their backs will enrage them to punish you more... I hope you can understand this.

We have a saying in the uk.. 2 wrongs do not make a right, that is to say, that if someone does something bad to you, it doesnt make it right, for you to try and do something bad to them, it actually makes you as bad if not worse than they are. Lead by example. Rise above it and take responsibility for your actions.

I am pretty sure your parents never done this, just for the fun of it. I think you know what you have done and you need to grow up and face the consequences of your actions.. not make it worse.

I think you need a big slice of humble pie !

Holey smokes! Sorry to hear about your parent problems. Whenever I wanted something from my parents, long long ago when I still lived at home, I would try bargaining with them. Just do really nice things for your mom, like help with dishes, house work etc etc, or try to ace an exam in school. Just remember to stay calm and reasonable, yelling never got anyone anywhere.

Well the other day my parents completely uninstalled Steam, along with TF2 from my computer. But not only did they do that, but they did something to steam where when I try to re-install Tf2, it says I have to buy it again. What pisses me off the most though, is the fact that I bought the game with my money that I made myself, and they take it away from me. They have also taken my COD4 console disk away from my brother and I, which, once again, I bought with my own money. So pretty much I used $80 of my own money on nothing. So I'll probably see you guys on the game in about four years, since thats when I get to go to college and live on my own. Oh and I'm not trying to sound like a little a brat here, I'm just stating what happened and my feelings toward it.

Oh man i feel the same about you my parents almost took away all my 8-tracks

As a parent, I must STRONGLY disagree with the suggestions that you change the password! If my kids did that, computer access would be the least of their worries for a LONG time!
Don't beg for access back. That gets you nowhere, as we parents often find it more annoying than anything else. My advice is prove that you are able to handle the privilege of playing games. I.e., do your homework without needing to be asked, keep your room clean (if your parents expect it, I don't worry too much about my kid's room right now, but they are still young), generally just try to make your parent's lives easier, then after a couple weeks of that gently bring up the subject. If they say no, don't fight it, just keep up with the homework, etc, and eventually your parents will soften to the idea.
It sounds like the conflict was over time spent in the game and priorities. If you take care of your parents priorities first (school, chores, family, etc...) they will be more likely to provide time for your priorities (games!).
Good luck! Remember that the ideas of eGO (politeness, maturity, and respect) work WONDERS on parents! If you approach it that way, you'll be much more likely to get what you want!

OR

You can call me up, pay me 50$ (and a plane ticket, depending on where you live) and I bring Spanky the Baseball Bat with me. Then we sit down with your parents and have a nice "meaningful" heart to heart.

Or yeah, whatever anyone else here is saying >.>

Did you make a backup of your computer when you got it? If so, restarting EVERYTHING would probably help. IDK, i'm just spitballin here :/

I am telling you now that if I was that kind of parent and mini mental went behind my back and restored it, he would loose his comp till hell freezes over.
Well, I just want to point out that im some cultures hell is naturaly Frozen, so I wouldnt push hard on that part of sentance...

Had the same problem with my parents a couple of years back, they wiped clean my Hard Drive for bad grades, but in few days I got them to agree that wipeing my Hard Drive wont do anything and they gave me all back, good thing that they made a copy of most of my files :D

And then I became best in English in my City, thanks to Gaming...:D

After that they never tried to do anything like that

just my 4 cents
