New Graphics Card!!!

Well i have a pretty ancient computer, and i has no money to build a while new one, so im upgrading the one i has now!!

Just bought this graphics card for it... figure it will be really nice

Right now i have a 2.5GHz Pentium 4 running in it right now, wondering if i should buy one of these just for the extra small boost i could get from it. so what do you guys think?

yeah thats what i was thinking too... idk though cause i dont think i have HT on the one i have now... although i might be wrong because i got the board from a friend lol

and the P4 i would be buying has HT (i think hahah)

save for a socket 775 board.. like the gigabyte p35 board is like 84.99 on the egg.

If you get that i would save for a Q6600 quad core, or something like an e6750 / e6850.

But then you will need a pci-e card to match, heh.

Yea the price alone is way to steep for that thing. It is simply just not good enough to warrant what you're paying for it. For example, I'm pretty sure you can buy 90nm Dual-Cores for the same price (I know that you can't use dual core, it was just for examples sake). I'll reiterate what everyone else is saying...save up for the budget box, everything should be dropping within your price range pretty soon (dual cores<$80, 8800GT<$90, etc. etc.)

yeah thats what i was thinking

the graphics card was a MUST right now, although it was a bit pricey, i may be able to get something out of it money-wise after using it, everything else is kinda secondary

The one thing i really want to do is go to Best Buy or some other computer store and buy a really cheap one, and just upgrade that but i cant find one that suits my needs, so i think im stuck with building a custom built

i dont want to offend anyone but the current best cpu out there for the money right now is probably the Q6600 2.4 quad. I got it when it came out two years ago and i still read magazine articles bragging about it.

Also, spend the extra money on the chip and then overclock the thing. I have a 2.4 quad and ive overclocked the thing to 3.0. some ppl have overclocked the 2.4 to 3.2 but thats risky.

dont waste your money on a chip youll need to upgrade again in a year.

hey arnot, ur in luck. i have an old p4 3.2 ghz cpu that im not usin. its never been overclocked (still has the intel oem heatsink fan on it). if u want it, hit me up via pm so we can work out the details. btw ill sell it 2 ya cheaper than what newegg has 4 the 3.0 ghz. also, if u want the motherboard it came it, its an asus p5gd2 deluxe. its a full atx motherboard that has 1 pci-e slot, so u can get more fps & more speed outta ur card. the motherboard works real well w/ nvidia cards (ive always had great experience w/ nvidia) so there ya go.

You should definitely just save so you can get some major good upgrades in there.
